Child Start, Inc. is in search of a dedicated, experienced Head Start Program Director to lead our Head Start program serving children from birth to five years of age. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all Head Start programs to ensure they meet the needs of children and families in our community. You will collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to create a positive, educational environment that promotes development and school readiness. The ideal candidate should possess strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a profound understanding of early childhood education and best practices.

Develop, manage, and implement a comprehensive program that adheres to the Head Start Performance Standards and State of Kansas licensing regulations. Ensure continuous quality improvement by evaluating program effectiveness and making necessary adjustments to meet the evolving needs of children and families. Provide supervision, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for program staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment. Manage program budgets and ensure the appropriate use of resources, including federal and state funding. Engage with families and the community to promote the program, encourage participation, and develop partnerships that enhance services offered to children. Represent the program in community meetings, collaborations, and at local, state, and national conferences to advocate for young children and families.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, social work, or a related field is required, with a strong understanding of early childhood development principles. Minimum of five years of experience in early childhood education programming, with at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role. Extensive knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, child development theories, regulations, and practices. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to build effective relationships with families, staff, and community partners. Experience in budgeting, grant writing, and program evaluation. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet program obligations. Persistent commitment to high-quality education and services for young children and their families.

This is not a remote position, must be able to commute daily to Wichita, KS.
