Base pay range: $185,412.00/yr - $278,119.00/yr

Overview
Do you have expertise in leading Medical Affairs teams in Oncology? Apply your experience to changing how cancer is treated in a company that follows the science and turns ideas into life-changing medicines. This role supports the GI program with global medical strategy and execution, owning key elements of the medical plans and working with the GMA team. The GMAL reports to the Head of IO, GI Global Medical Affairs.
What You'll Do
- Manage multiple projects and tasks and work autonomously
- Manage elements of the brand budget
- Collaborate with Senior GMALs to deliver evidence strategy including ESR strategy
- Work with functional leads to develop and review ESRs and RWE protocols against priorities
- Partner with Sr GMAL to operationalize Expanded Access Program (EAP) strategy
- Serve as Strategic Lead for Advisory boards, including developing plans, shaping agendas, and ensuring appropriate stakeholders are involved
- Ensure GPT and brand team awareness of external developments and articulate implications for the brand
- Develop an external education plan including AstraZeneca-led symposia and other scientific exchanges
- Responsible for publication strategy for the specific indication
- Contribute to Global Medical Projects
- Ensure all Medical and business activities comply with AZ standards and external regulations
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent medical/scientific qualifications and/or significant industry experience
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in pharma/life sciences and/or medical affairs roles
- Good communication and presentation skills in English
- Experience leading medical plans and strategic medical initiatives
- Ability to influence without authority
- Strong project management skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of drug development, commercialization processes, and outcomes research/payer issues
- Proven ability to generate, analyze, and interpret clinical trial data and publications
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred
- 3+ years in a Headquarters Medical Affairs role or Global Clinical R&D
- Oncology experience
- Country launch experience
- Track record of developing and executing Medical Plans across evidence generation, scientific communications, and external engagements
