Key Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee all elements of funeral services, including visitations, memorials, burials, and cremations, ensuring they align with the family's wishes and cultural traditions. Consult with families to arrange personalized funeral services, offering support and guidance throughout the planning process. Manage the preparation of the deceased, including dressing, casketing, and, if licensed, embalming. Ensure all necessary documentation, such as death certificates and permits, are accurately completed and filed in compliance with Ohio state regulations. Provide aftercare support to families, connecting them with grief resources and support services as needed.
Qualifications Valid Ohio Funeral Director license. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in funeral service. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide comfort and guidance to grieving families. Proficiency in funeral service-related software and basic office applications. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Preferred Attributes Experience with embalming and restorative art. Familiarity with diverse cultural and religious funeral practices. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry best practices.
