The YMCA is looking to hire an  Aquatics Program Director for our Fullerton YMCA Branch.This position will oversee the development and operations of one YMCA branch department. The Aquatics Program Director will provide leadership to the department, branch, and association in the areas of: collaboration, mission advancement, communication, decision making, and project management. This is a full-time position that will require some weekends to be worked. General Responsibilities/Duties: Develops, organizes and implements diverse aquatics program offerings for youth and adults. This includes private instruction, lessons, group recreational classes and competitive teams Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations Conducts routine safety drop drills to ensure compliance with standards Works with the facilities department on the cleanliness and maintenance of the pool area and equipment. Assists in meeting membership retention goals Develops, maintains and distributes pool schedules, rosters, and class offerings Designs and implements innovative programs based upon trends and best practices Qualifications
Supervisory Duties: In accordance with applicable policies/procedures and Federal/State laws, may perform the following supervisory responsibilities: Interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Minimum Qualifications: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location. Education & Certifications: 4-year college degree in related field or 6 years' experience may off-set the degree requirement First Aid and CPR certifications required. Red Cross Lifeguard Certified Experience & Background: Must be 21 years of age. 3+ years of related experience and supervision required (in addition to the education off-set). Additional years of experience may offset some of the educational requirement Experience working with diverse populations Skills/Abilities: Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations Excellent planning, organizing and leadership/supervisory skills Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills Proficiency in Windows/Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong customer and results orientation Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures Ability to be an effective member of project teams Benefits The YMCA of Orange County offers excellent benefits as part of our compensation package.
