Position Overview
The Financial Reporting Director provides timely and accurate financial information to management, auditors, and regulatory bodies while guiding others in the use of appropriate accounting practices.
Essential Job Functions
Trains, supervises, and mentors financial accounting staff and leadership Responsible for researching, documenting, and implementing authoritative accounting guidance Responsible for staying informed of developments in accounting guidance and reporting Supervises and reviews the monthly internal financial statements Reviews the filing of annual and quarterly statements and various supplemental filings to authorized states, multiple bureaus, and other agencies Submits numerous statistical filings to outside bureaus and agencies Reviews and ensures accuracy of all internal and external reports generated by accounting staff Prepares documentation for and works with outside auditors and state examiners as needed Reviews inter-company allocation of expenses between affiliate companies Assists the Controller with various projects as needed Performs other duties as assigned Education & Experience
Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Typically requires 8+ years of pertaining to departmental functions Typically requires 5+ years of experience leading and managing teams Preferred or Specialized Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred Certifications & Licenses Insurance designation or equivalent experience required Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated skill in: leadership and collaboration managing one's own time and working independently Demonstrated ability to: be creative and willingness to promote change analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines communicate effectively in both oral and written form read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence effectively present information and respond to top management, public groups and/or board of directors compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret spreadsheets show extensive persuasive abilities, tact, and be able to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization Demonstrated knowledge of: Microsoft Office software Statutory Accounting Principles Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
Pay Range : $130,000 - $160,000 per year This range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position.
