Position Overview
We are seeking a Program Director to provide both clinical and supervisory leadership of the residency. The program currently has 30 residents and a faculty team led by the Program Director and two Associate Directors.
As the only residency program on-site, trainees develop true ownership of patient care across a wide range of services, including:
Comprehensive outpatient care, including complex disease management, addiction medicine, HIV/viral hepatitis, women’s health, and procedures
Inpatient medicine, ICU (adult and neonatal), and labor & delivery
Point-of-care ultrasound and osteopathic manipulation
Broad exposure to subspecialty services with strong mentorship and procedure opportunities
The program produces holistic family physicians prepared for primary care or hospital medicine, with many graduates continuing to practice in the region.
This position is:
100% on-site (no hybrid or remote option)
Permanent, full-time
Responsibilities
Provide visionary leadership, strategic planning, and oversight for the residency program.
Ensure compliance with ACGME accreditation standards.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate residents and faculty.
Oversee curriculum design, didactic sessions, and scholarly activities.
Maintain active clinical practice in family medicine.
Promote a resident-centered learning environment focused on quality, compassionate care.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $212,000 + incentives
Starting Bonus: Up to $50,000 (discussed at interview)
Retention Bonus: $15,000 annually for 2 years
Relocation Allowance: Reimbursement-based, amount determined by relocation distance

Malpractice Coverage: Paid, including post-employment tail coverage

Qualifications
Board Certified in Family Medicine (ABFM or AOBFP) – Required
Active NY License (or willingness to obtain) – Required
DEA License (or ability to obtain) – Required
Minimum 3 years of educational and/or administrative leadership experience in Family Medicine – Required
Must not be a local candidate within 30 miles of Ellis Medicine
