Overview Faculty (Rank TBD) - Medical Education/Director, Global Health and Graduate Program/Director, NSU Ocean Health Initiative (NOHI) - 991421 at Nova Southeastern University.
Primary Purpose Teaches in discipline-based courses (anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, pathology, physiology) in the Health Professions Division and interdisciplinary blocks. Facilitates problem-based learning and team-based learning. Serves as Program Director for the Master of Science in Global Health and as Director of NSU Ocean Health Initiative (NOHI). Provides academic leadership, curriculum design, teaching, faculty collaboration, student mentorship, and builds global partnerships to support educational, research, and experiential learning initiatives. Contributes to scholarship, service, and interprofessional/international education initiatives. Teaches graduate and undergraduate medical education courses within the NSU MD program.
Key Responsibilities Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course materials, and instructional methods.
Prepares syllabi, assignments, tests, handouts, and laboratory materials.
Facilitates problem-based learning (PBL) and team-based learning (TBL); supports students needing extra help.
Maintains attendance, grades, and other required records; advises students on academic and vocational plans.
Assesses student needs and supports career guidance; participates in recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
Collaborates with colleagues on teaching and research issues; serves on academic or administrative committees.
Engages in campus and community events and conducts research, including publication and peer-review activities.
Mentors junior faculty and students; keeps current with developments in the field; performs other duties as assigned.
Director Roles Director of the Master of Science in Global Health : leads curriculum development, implementation, and continuous improvement; establishes partnerships with international institutions, NGOs, and global health stakeholders; oversees experiential learning opportunities (fieldwork, practicums, international projects).
Director of NSU Ocean Health Initiative (NOHI) : leads university-wide program advancing human health through ocean and environmental sustainability; builds NOHI identity and impact by uniting strengths across medicine, marine science, public health, environmental studies, biotechnology, and sustainability; drives research leadership, program development, and cross-sector collaboration.

Job Requirements For Instructor rank: Masters degree with college-level teaching experience. For Assistant Professor: Doctoral or terminal degree with college-level teaching experience. For Associate Professor: four years of full-time university teaching at the rank of Assistant Professor, with scholarly contributions recognized by peers. For Professor: five years at the rank of Associate Professor with substantial scholarly contributions recognized by peers. Doctoral degrees preferred for senior ranks.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Medicine: comprehensive knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of human injuries and diseases, including drug properties and interactions and preventive health-care measures.
Biology, Education & Training, English Language, Psychology, Sociology & Anthropology, Mathematics, Administration & Management: broad knowledge in respective areas relevant to health professions education and research.
Ability to design curricula, lead teams, and communicate effectively; strong written and oral communication; problem-solving and decision-making.
Skills Advanced interpersonal communication; teaching proficiency; clear written communication; selection of appropriate instructional methods; critical thinking and problem-solving; performance monitoring and improvement.
Abilities Effective verbal and written communication; listening; reading comprehension; applying general rules to specific problems.
Physical Requirements Speech recognition and speech clarity suitable for professional settings.
Education & Experience Required Education: Doctoral Degree. Required Experience: College-level teaching experience. Preferred: Ph.D. in an area relevant to the department.
