Role of the Position
Reporting directly to the Sr. Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (SVPAA) and the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (AVPEM), the Executive Director/Director (ED/D) of the Institute for Financial Literacy and Wellness (IFLW) will provide strategic direction, and operational oversight for an institute dedicated to enhancing financial education and wellness among students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community.
The Executive Director is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive financial literacy programs, securing funding and partnerships, and ensuring the institute serves as a premier resource for financial empowerment and well-being. The ED/D is responsible for leading a team of staff members and Graduate Assistants dedicated to providing financial literacy and wellness services to all students and serves as a collaborative partner with the Lee Business School, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, and the IFLW community and campus advisory boards and other units and external partners as appropriate to execute the university's non-credit bearing financial literacy and wellness programs. The university's non-credit bearing financial literacy and wellness program will educate and empower students to make good financial decisions while in college and beyond. The program will focus not only on smart borrowing while paying for college, but budgeting well and making sound financial decisions throughout one's life.
The ED/D will be tasked with developing and/or implementing strategies that enhance students' understanding of budgeting, debt reduction, investments, and retirement planning, ultimately empowering them to set and achieve their financial goals. This position is crucial in fostering a financially literate student community and ensuring that students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed financially during their academic journey as well as expanding these services to the Las Vegas Community at large.
Partnerships are a key function for the IFLW. As such an important component of the ED/D is to identify, cultivate, grow and maintain important relationships for programming, outreach, funding, support, and promotion. The ED/D will be responsible for collaborating on ongoing donor cultivation, retention, and engagement initiatives in partnership with the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, grant writing and identifying other funding streams to assist in the growth and enhancements of the ILFW and its programming.
The ED/D will also be the primary relationship manager for the residential financial institution (RFI) in the physical shared ILFW space. Communication between the RFI, the Lee Business School, the Foundation and other offices, colleges, departments on campus will be facilitated by the ED/D in partnership with the SVPAA and/or AVPEM.
Responsibilities of this position will require the incumbent to be on-site during public business hours, generally 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required to accommodate a fluctuating workload, evening or weekend outreach, or attend training, workshops, and conferences. The ED/D should be prepared to travel both in-state and out-of-state as necessary and must hold a valid Nevada driver's license.

By addressing systemic obstacles and implementing strategic services, programs, and support, this position will meaningfully contribute to the institution's commitment to expand access, grow enrollment, and promote career-ready student success that leads to timely graduation.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Master's Degree in finance, business administration, education, public policy, or a related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 5 - 7 Years of Related Professional Experience, 3 5 Years of Supervisory Experience, and 1 3 Years of Management Experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in financial literacy education, student affairs, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in a related field.
- Experience in higher education administration.
- Seven (7) years of relevant experience in financial literacy education.
