About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for the National Capital Region. The successful candidate will be a bold thinker, a fast mover, and a smart collaborator, with a deep commitment to the mission of making military life better for families. This role is pivotal in solving complex challenges, building cross-sector partnerships, and helping military families feel at home wherever they live. The Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the chapter's staff, programs, budget, and the execution of its mission. Key responsibilities include local board management, VIP engagement, fundraising, storytelling, program management, and community building. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field or 7+ years of experience, with a proven track record in fundraising, and at least 5-10 years of management experience.
The role requires an individual with strong leadership and management skills, the ability to work effectively with diverse groups, and a passion for the mission. The Executive Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong, diverse, and engaged local Advisory Board, as well as leading and coaching a team of volunteers. Experience in community relations, development, and a background in the military family experience are highly desirable. The candidate should be an entrepreneurial spirit, with an action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning, and the ability to engage with potential partners to build community-based solutions. Strong communication, marketing, and public relations skills are essential, as is the ability to work with a high level of integrity, and a positive, mission-driven attitude.
