Under the general direction of the Vice President of Operations at Wesley Woods Senior Living, Inc., the Executive Director provides strategic leadership and oversees the daily operations of a large, multifaceted retirement community. This includes management of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) or Life Plan community.
Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Vice President of Operations at Wesley Woods Senior Living, Inc., the Executive Director provides strategic leadership and oversees the daily operations of a large, multifaceted retirement community. This includes management of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) or Life Plan community.
The Executive Director ensures operational excellence through effective management of programs and services, fostering a culture of person-centered care that aligns with Wesley Woods’ mission and exceeds resident expectations. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, overseeing financial performance, leading staff and volunteer teams, and ensuring long-term sustainability and growth of the community.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
Collaborate with the Vice President of Operations to develop and implement long- and short-term strategic plans.
Evaluate opportunities for new services and expansions, overseeing licensing, consulting, staffing, and funding needs.
Maintain a deep understanding of Wesley Woods’ mission, vision, values, and overall strategic direction.
Community Operations
Lead with a philosophy of person-directed care, ensuring that services meet or exceed regulatory requirements and resident expectations.
Oversee all administrative functions and departments, including dining, facilities, and resident life.
Ensure efficient daily operations that align with organizational goals and uphold high standards of care and service.
Financial Management
Develop and manage the annual operating and capital budgets.
Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure financial health and mission sustainability.
Identify and implement growth strategies that support service excellence and financial objectives.
Staff Leadership
Lead a residential team of 50–100 employees in accordance with Wesley Woods Human Resources policies.
Promote a positive work culture through effective hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
Ensure employees receive appropriate training and development opportunities to deliver high-quality resident care.
Community & Donor Engagement
Cultivate relationships with civic and community leaders to build goodwill and promote the community.
Partner with the Foundation, board members, and volunteers on fundraising initiatives.
Represent the organization in public forums, providing thought leadership and advocacy for aging services.
Policy Implementation & Compliance
Implement and monitor policies related to safety, risk management, finance, HR, and fundraising.
Contribute to the development and ongoing review of company-wide policies and procedures.
Capital Project Oversight
Manage major construction and renovation projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with community needs.
Oversee contractors and vendors for capital improvements and infrastructure maintenance.
Reporting & Documentation
Provide timely and accurate reports to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Maintain required documentation in compliance with internal and external standards.
Professional Development
Remain informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.
Actively participate in continuing education and leadership development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field. Masters preferred.
Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, hospitality, long term care or related experience. Experience with a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) or Life plan community preferred.
Skilled Nursing Home Administrator Licensed required.
Excellent planning, organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to perform responsibilities without direct supervisor; determining appropriate actions and execute effective solutions.
Proven progressive leadership and management skills, collaboratively managing a diverse staff.
Knowledge of technical requirement of appropriate government regulations applicable to the community, budgeting, marketing, and planning.
Effective computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.
Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills; able to make presentations to a variety of people.
Ability to travel and participate in off-site meetings.
Physical Demands
Normal office environment in a geriatric community.
