Position Summary: The Executive Director leads a small rural, high-impact center serving Chaffee, Lake, and Park Counties. With a modest budget ($200,000–$235,000 annually) and a two-person team, this role combines strategic planning and operational execution, requiring a proactive leader who excels in direct service, community engagement, and resourcefulness. The Central Mountain SBDC offers free, confidential business advising, training programs, events, and access to capital support. The Executive Director manages a full-time Client & Program Coordinator, collaborates with contract advisors, manages grants, develops partnerships, and drives innovative programs aligned with the mission to empower businesses. During disasters, the Executive Director leads preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, including workshops and advising, demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and compassion. The SBDC is hosted by Chaffee County and is part of the Colorado SBDC network, supported by state and federal agencies, host institutions, and community stakeholders. The position reports to the Chaffee County Administrator and the State Director of Colorado SBDC. In emergencies, county employees may be required to provide services during and after the event.
