Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.Posting DetailsPosition Information Job Title Executive Director, Student Success and Retention Department Academic Programs, College of Nursing - 35100 Pay Grade 1 Job Category Faculty Job Summary The ETSU College of Nursing invites applications for a 12-month Lecturer faculty position that will serve in the role of Executive Director for the Office of Student Success and Retention.
The Executive Director for Student Success and Retention provides strategic leadership and oversight for programs and services that enhance student retention, progression, graduation rates, advising, and enrollment within the College of Nursing. This role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to develop and implement initiatives that support student success. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in health care though applicants with significant experience in student success, advising, and enrollment management in higher education will also be considered.
The College of Nursing is part of the University’s Academic Health Sciences Center, which also includes the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Public Health, and the College of Health Sciences. The College of Nursing is the largest in the State of Tennessee offering multiple tracks for students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Undergraduate Programs is home to over 45 full-time faculty and 700 students across five (5) tracks including the Traditional BSN , Accelerated BSN (Johnson City, Kingsport, Sevierville), LPN - BSN , and RN- BSN /Dual Degree. The Department of Undergraduate Programs boasts a record of excellence with 60% of faculty holding specialty certifications and a strong record of collaboration and successful student outcomes. All programs in the College of Nursing are fully accredited by the CCNE .

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be engaged in physical activities that involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, pulling/pushing, and assisting students in clinical, laboratory, and simulation environments. The employee must occasionally lift and carry clinical teaching materials and equipment (i.e. lift, carry, push, and pull) up to 100 pounds or more. The employee must be able to perceive and respond to sounds and alarms; communicate effectively with others; be able to observe and monitor situations and details at close range in full and dimmed light. The employee will provide clinical instruction in healthcare settings of up to 2-3 clinical courses per semester, with each clinical lasting up to twelve hours per day. Rapid mobility may also be required on occasion. The employee must be able to demonstrate and model clinical procedures and techniques, which may require physical dexterity and stamina.
Stress levels may be high due to frequently dealing with numerous students, patients, family members, and other healthcare providers. This position demands concentration and the ability to work in emotionally charged situations. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing or health-related field.
Five (5) years of experience in higher education, with significant experience in student success, advising, retention, and enrollment management.
Active Registered Nurse license in TN or compact state.
Preferred Qualifications Earned terminal degree in nursing or health-related field.
