The Executive Director of Information Technology reports to the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. This role is responsible for the university community satisfaction with technology services and the day-to-day management and operation of the IT department, ensuring systems and services are running smoothly and supporting business needs. IT staff; oversees technology projects, IT infrastructure, and end-user requests; aligns enterprise applications with business goals; promotes operational efficiency; and collaborates with essential university functions to advance the institution. This position will be responsible to support a higher education institution customer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support IT Governance: Ensure IT staff follow IT policy and procedures. Communicate and explain IT governance to the university community, optimize services with best practices. Budget Management: Manage the IT budget - including forecasting, resource allocation, and project budgeting. Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with technology vendors, purchasing and ensuring quality. Team Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise IT staff, fostering a collaborative and high performing team. Rela1onship Management: Represent IT to the university community and ensure positive and productive perceptions and experiences with IT staff and services. Infrastructure Management: Oversee the organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and data centers. Security Management: Ensure the security of the organizations IT systems and data, implementing security protocols and managing cybersecurity threats. Technology Adop1on: Identify and evaluate new technologies, recommending and implementing solutions that improve business processes. Communica1on and Collabora1on: Communicate IT initiatives and updates to stakeholders, building relationships and fostering collaboration. Interact with senior leadership and executives. Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant IT regulations and standards. Project Management: Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring they are completed on 'me and within budget. Change Management: Manage changes to enterprise applications, ensuring that they are implemented in a controlled and planned manner. Training: Develop and deliver training programs for users of university enterprise applications. IT Group Oversight: Assist, support and direct all IT groups and ensure seamless interaction and integration of IT employees and services for optimal service delivery.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Educa1on: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Informa'on Systems, or a related field; master’s degree preferred. Experience: Extensive experience in IT leadership roles, with a proven track record of success. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, security, networking, and applica'on development. Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communica'on, and interpersonal skills. Work as part of a collabora've team and understand teamwork. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with business objec'ves. Project Management Skills: Experience in managing complex IT projects from ini'a'on to comple'on. Budget Management Skills: Experience in managing IT budgets and resources. Vendor Management Skills: Experience in nego'a'ng contracts with technology vendors. Diagnos1c, inves'ga'on and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal, wri^en, and verbal communica'on skills to work with a diverse group of technical and non-technical stakeholders and interact with professionalism. Work collabora1vely with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. Adept in discre1on and handling confiden'al informa'on. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • Cer'fica'ons: Relevant IT cer'fica'ons (e.g., CISSP, CCIE, PMP). • Experience in Higher Educa'on • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends if necessary. • Experience with cloud compu'ng, data analy'cs, or other emerging technologies. • Capacity to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced work environment. • Comfort with ambiguity and limited instruc'on when required.
