Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the supervision of the VP of Men’s Ministry, the Executive Director of Angeles House will oversee the Emmaus and Families programs located at Angeles House, including the supervision of staff. This leader will also be responsible for promoting a safe and secure environment for recovery and transformation.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ANGELES HOUSE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Promote Christian virtues in all relationships throughout the Mission as described in Matt. 7 : 12, Ephesians 4 : 2-3, & Phil. 2 : 3-8. Teach and influence guests (Titus 2 : 2-8) to love in one accord for Christ and His kingdom (1Cor. 13 : 1-7).
Lead, develop, and manage Angeles House program staff in their essential functions and responsibilities; oversee clinic staff (Pepperdine Mental Health and USC Dental) to ensure compliance with organization and program guidelines.
Oversee staff training and provide clinical supervision to Chaplains, Recovery Counselors, and Case Managers.
Work with the team to regularly assess programs, including class curriculum, training assignments, apprenticeships, etc.
Ensure that intakes, assessments, case notes, and outcomes are consistently documented on Mission Tracker; compile statistics for outcomes, headcount, attrition, housing placements etc.
Interface with security, culinary, transportation, thrift store, distribution center, housekeeping and maintenance staff, as related to training assignments and daily operations.
Determine the most impactful use of program funds and manage the budget effectively.
Resolve program conflicts and facilitate resolutions.
Provide oversight and direction for Volunteer Chaplains and Ministry Interns at URM.
Coordinate and provide an oversight of significant ministry and volunteer partnerships; provide tours, as needed.
Build and maintain relationships with the following DTLA-URM Clinics : Pepperdine University Legal Aid / Tax Clinic and USC Dental Clinics.
Report and monitor floor operations, including dorms, common areas, and all transitional living spaces; and promote an environment conducive to recovery and transformation.
Oversee the coordination of events – graduations, Christmas celebration, outings etc.
Research current scientific literature and best practices in recovery and transformation; examples include : anger management, drug abuse, and alcoholism.
Perform other tasks and projects assigned by the VP of Men’s Ministry.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES :
Conduct interviews, assist in the hiring of staff, onboard employees, provide coaching and development, manage timecards, and plan staff schedules as best suited for an environment conducive to transformation.Provide regular staff competencies reports to the VP of Men’s Ministry. PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES :
Master's Level of Education in Theology, Psychology, Social Work or any other ministry related field.Minimum three years (post-graduation) of progressively responsible experience in pastoral / church staff and / or social services / community relations environment.Minimum two years’ experience within a residential program for mental health, domestic violence, recovery or similar services.Valid California driver’s license and the ability to be added to the company vehicle insurance policy. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and human relations skills.A thorough knowledge of the types of strengths, challenges, experiences, and opportunities of marginalized communities and potential guests of the mission, especially in the context of Los Angeles and California.An understanding of family systems theory, recovery capital, trauma informed care, and effective life transformation environments.Proven ability to lead by example in promoting a biblical model that is representative of URM’s cultural values : having a humble heart attitude; treating others with kindness and truth; high emotional intelligence; and zealous in achieving work related objectives without any personal agendas.Competent in problem-solving, multi-tasking, managing conflict and emergencies.Excellent decision-making skills.Thorough understanding of leading and managing ministry teams.
