Overview The Executive Director, Marketing is a senior leader responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and execution of high-impact marketing and branding initiatives that promote growth for Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), its member organizations, and clinical service lines. The executive provides strategic leadership across the system, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, physicians, and colleagues on matters related to marketing strategy, brand positioning, and reputation. The role is a dynamic, results-oriented leadership position with deep expertise in building complex, integrated strategies and inspiring cross-functional teams to deliver transformative results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Define and oversee the long-term marketing and branding strategy for the system, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and business goals.
Partner with executive leadership and colleagues to identify growth opportunities, address challenges, and shape enterprise-wide strategies that build market share and advance the brand.
Serve as the senior brand steward, responsible for articulating and safeguarding BILH’s positioning, purpose, and voice across all audiences and experiences.
Lead development of enterprise and service line marketing campaigns, ensuring strategies are research-informed, audience-driven, and differentiated in the marketplace.
Direct the ongoing evolution of BILH’s brand architecture, identity systems, and naming conventions, ensuring consistency and cohesion across the system.
Build and oversee brand health measurement programs, including brand trackers, market research, and competitive assessments, applying insights to refine strategy.
Guide the development of full-funnel engagement strategies using traditional, digital, and offline platforms to reach target audiences.
Oversee agency and vendor partnerships, ensuring accountability for performance, innovation, and ROI.
Optimize budget allocation across campaigns and channels to maximize effectiveness and measurable business impact.
Act as a thought partner and strategic influencer with system executives, physicians, and operational leaders, driving alignment on brand and marketing strategies.
Lead a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across Marketing.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing/Communications, or other related field required.
Experience: 10+ years of related work experience leading a range of marketing functions, including strategy, research, campaign development, and execution.
A minimum of five years of supervisory experience, including staff and agency management.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strategic thinker and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams to develop fully integrated marketing strategy.
Ability to set direction and vision for major departments or multiple departments, including establishing priorities, developing workflows and procedures, and allocating resources.
Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills and advanced skills to represent the department and health system with other institutional and/or external constituencies.
Strong skills to produce results and achieve predetermined goals within budget and time constraints.
Ability to make decisions with significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a major department or multiple departments.
Participates in decisions on overall strategy and direction of the organization.
