Responsible for the overall direction, leadership and administration of the organ procurement organization (OPO) operating under the policies, bylaws and direction of the hospital governing board.
Responsibilities
The executive director is responsible for the following:
Develops and ensures implementation of the organization's strategic plan and keeps the OPO in compliance with oversight entities such as AHCA, CMS and UNOS.
Submits annual report to hospital CEO and Board Quality Committee.
Establishes and oversees the development and execution of the organization's administrative, financial, hospital services, public relations, community education, professional education, quality assessment performance improvement, and clinical operations.
Facilitates the effective utilization of resources (human, financial, material) by translating the organizational mission and goals into operational priorities and policies.
Ensures LifeQuest is in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines, laws and regulations.
Develops and maintains key stakeholder relationships in the 71 client hospitals, 3 transplant centers and the 4.2 million public members in the 36-county, 25,000 square mile federally designated service area.
Meets regularly with transplant center physicians and surgeons.
Represents LifeQuest at the local, regional and national levels.
Adheres to UF Health Shands' personnel and financial management policies and approves and monitors expenditures in accordance with these policies.
Works closely with the OPO advisory board, medical director and the management team to ensure quality programs, processes and procedures are implemented to maximize organ donation.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in a health care or business-related discipline preferred, or bachelor's degree in a health care or business-related discipline with 5 years of professional experience within an organ procurement organization (OPO); including 3 years OPO management experience.
Must demonstrate knowledge and experience of OPO operations including administration, growth and development, clinical ops, professional and community education, Quality, and public relations as well as knowledge of state and federal OPO regulations.
Must be able to multi-task and communicate complex concepts to a broad range of people.
Prior experience with a Board of Directors or Advisory Board preferred.
Prior experience as an OPO executive director, CEO or COO preferred.
