Position Summary The Executive Director leads and manages the Feerick Center, reporting to Senior Counsel, and works with the Center’s Faculty Advisor and Advisory Board. Responsibilities include developing justice initiatives, managing personnel, securing funding through philanthropy and grants, overseeing communications, and building strategic partnerships. The Center will celebrate its 20th Anniversary next year, and the new ED will lead a strategic planning process to set future directions.
Essential Functions
Lead creation, development, and management of justice initiatives focused on combating poverty.
Serve as liaison to external partners including bar associations, community service providers, legal organizations, government agencies, and advocacy groups.
Manage and recruit staff, interns, fellows, and volunteers.
Supervise grant compliance and seek new funding sources.
Assist in development efforts with the Law School’s Senior Director.
Oversee marketing, publicity, and communications.
Support the Advisory Board leadership.
Collaborate on strategic planning and program development.
Mentor and supervise law students, interns, and volunteers.
Qualifications Education & Experience: Juris Doctor with NYS bar admission and good standing. Minimum 10 years of legal and professional experience, including 5 years in program development, management, and anti-poverty work. Litigation, pro bono, grant management, and mentoring experience are required.
Knowledge & Skills: Commitment to public interest, collaboration, project management, strategic thinking, excellent judgment, confidentiality, and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Spanish.
Experience with individual donor fundraising.
Experience with conferences and fundraising events.
Languages other than English and Spanish.
Expertise in immigration and/or consumer protection.
Salary Range Starting at $150,000 up to $180,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
