Responsibilities The 1898 & Co. Utility Consulting Director is responsible for the successful sale and execution of management and advisory consulting engagements.
This role requires subject matter expertise in at least one of the following service areas: Transmission Planning
Grid Modernization & Distribution Planning
Resource Planning & Market Assessment
Financial Analysis & Rates
Utility Investment Planning
Renewable Energy
Energy Asset Advisory
Zero Emissions Transportation
The Director will manage and provide expertise and professional development to a team of consultants and analysts in managing project quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontracts, proposals, estimates, and client relations.
What You’ll Do You'll organize and direct consulting projects, including the overall pursuit, negotiation, execution, cost, schedule, and quality of deliverables.
You'll facilitate workshop sessions with senior-level client teams to understand client requirements, uncover needs, and develop action plans.
You’re a strategic thinker and anticipate client problems. You’ll provide innovative and impactful solutions.
Your communication and planning skills are vital to keeping everyone on the same page with project personnel's needs and department management.
You'll compile, distribute, and present status reports, including project progress, schedule, cost, and budget impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
You’re a curious seeker, passionate about personal and professional growth, and willing to take strategic risks.
You'll establish project teams, coordinate activities amongst multiple disciplines, and ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
You’ll be accountable for delivering third-party vendors and subcontractors, including contracts, scope, schedule, and budget.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related degree from an accredited program. MBA preferred.
Minimum of 13 years of relevant consulting experience.
Excellent business acumen with proven success managing consulting engagements.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets quickly and efficiently.
Ability to uncover customer needs, develop recommendations and deliver them persuasively.
Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of financial concepts.
Excellent planning and analytical skills.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
