Position Summary for the Emergency Department Nursing Director
This leadership role oversees all nursing and patient care functions within the hospital. You will assist in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units. This position requires 24/7 responsibility for assigned areas and accountability to the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee overall operations of the Emergency Department with approximately 60 employees.
Maintain effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate proven leadership ability in a hospital environment.
Act as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
Qualifications:
Education:
Required: Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or a BSN.
Preferred: MSN or a master's in a healthcare-related field.
Experience:
Required: 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.
Certifications:
Required: Currently licensed in the state of practice, and CPR certified.
