We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Center Director to help lead one of our early learning centers in California. The Assistant Center Director supports the Center Director in the day-to-day operations of a licensed childcare facility in accordance with California's Community Care Licensing (CCL) Title 22 regulations, Learning Jungle policies, and high-quality early childhood education standards. This role provides leadership to staff, ensures licensing compliance, and helps create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and safe learning environment.
Key Responsibilities: Licensing & Compliance Assist in ensuring full compliance with Title 22 Division 12 regulations and other applicable laws. Support maintenance of accurate staff and child files, ratios, and enrollment records. Assist with coordination of Community Care Licensing inspections and follow-up as needed. Help ensure proper reporting of incidents and adherence to mandated reporting laws. Program Operations Support the Center Director in overseeing daily center operations, including scheduling, classroom coverage, and parent communications. Help implement curriculum consistent with Reggio-inspired practices and Learning Jungle standards. Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, training, and evaluation of teaching staff. Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting environment that supports children's learning and well-being. Staff Supervision & Development Provide coaching and support to teaching staff and act as a resource for classroom management and curriculum development. Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback aligned with quality standards and developmental practices. Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Center Director. Family & Community Engagement Foster strong relationships with families through regular communication, conflict resolution, and involvement in center events. Assist in addressing parent concerns and maintaining a high standard of customer service. Administrative Duties Help track staff time, attendance, and PTO in coordination with HR and payroll systems. Support the monitoring of center budgets and ordering of materials and supplies as needed. Contribute to licensing reports, audits, and quality improvement plans. Qualifications: At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field preferred. Completion of at least 12 postsecondary semester units in ECE/CD, including: Child Growth & Development Child, Family & Community or Child & Family Relations Program/Curriculum
At least 3 units in administration or staff relations, and At least 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable group childcare program. Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days). Preferred: Current Child Development Site Supervisor Permit (or higher) from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Knowledge of Title 5 programs, DRDP, and Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS) is a plus. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Capable of walking, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling for extended periods. Able to move quickly to respond to children's needs and to ensure child safety. Why Join Learning Jungle?
