This dual-role position focuses primarily on supporting curriculum implementation in our Preschool Classroom, while also carrying key administrative responsibilities essential for the center's continued growth and success.
PAY: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour STATUS: Part-time, non-exempt
POSITION SNAPSHOT
Curriculum Implementation: Work in close partnership with our teaching staff to support and enrich the curriculum, ensuring a vibrant and developmentally appropriate classroom experience for our preschoolers. Administrative Leadership: Oversee planning, organization, and delivery of childcare services. Apply sound judgment and take initiative in critical areas like budgeting, compliance, policy enforcement, and team management.
DIRECTOR DUTIES
Community Outreach: Collaborate with marketing efforts to boost visibility through open houses, local events, and outreach, with the goal of increasing enrollment and meeting community demand. Regulatory Compliance: Operate the center in accordance with NYs Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Day Care regulations, maintaining strong working relationships with licensors. Documentation & Records: Keep accurate and complete student files in line with OCFS standards.<BR>Center Operations: Manage facility needs including supply ordering and acquisition of age-appropriate materials, following ECERS guidelines. Staff Management: Lead hiring, training, and supervision of a skilled and dedicated team committed to high-quality early childhood care. Team Communication: Utilize HR and registration platforms to streamline operations. Promote a culture of transparency and collaboration with staff, families, and caregivers. Quality Assurance: Get comfortable with tools like ECERS, Creative Curriculum, and CLASS observations using them to continuously improve classroom quality and performance. Parent Partnership: Organize and lead parent-teacher conferences twice a year, offering support and resources to both staff and families.
LEAD TEACHER DUTIES
Lesson Planning: Create and carry out weekly lesson plans rooted in the Creative Curriculum to spark learning and holistic development across all early childhood domains. Relationship Building: Use the CLASS framework to encourage warm, meaningful interactions with children, ensuring every child feels respected and supported. Child Safety: Prioritize the health and safety of all students in your care by applying ECERS/ITERS standards to maintain an engaging and secure environment. Family Communication: Keep parents and caregivers in the loop using tools like the Playground App, email, and direct conversations because strong partnerships matter. Development Monitoring: Regularly assess and document each childs progress, organizing parent meetings to share insights and developmental milestones. Transition Support: Help families navigate key educational transitions from toddlerhood to preschool and from preschool to kindergarten with empathy and clarity. Team Collaboration: Keep assistant teachers well-informed and prepared through regular updates, mentorship, and support. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS<BR> To qualify for the Director role, you must meet one of the following:
Option 1: Bachelor's degree (with at least 12 credits in early childhood or related field), plus 1 year of full-time teaching experience and 1 year of staff supervision experience. Option 2: NYS Childrens Program Administrator Credential, plus 1 year of teaching and 1 year of supervisory experience. Option 3: Associate degree in early childhood or related field, with a plan to earn a bachelors or administrator credential. Requires 2 years of teaching experience and 2 years of supervisory experience. Option 4: CDA or other Office-recognized credential, plus a study plan toward a bachelors or administrator credential, 2 years teaching, and 2 years of supervision.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must have medical clearance to perform job functions and be free from communicable diseases including TB. Warm, personable, and highly professional you thrive in a collaborative team and excel at connecting with children, families, and colleagues. Strong leadership and organizational skills with a passion for high-quality early education. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, stretching, and staying active in a busy childcare environment.
