Position Summary
The Department of Neurology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson is seeking a Division Director of Vascular Neurology who is also a Physician-Scientist to lead our expanding stroke and cerebrovascular program. This tenure-eligible position offers competitive resources, including startup funding, laboratory space, and leadership support. An endowed chair is available to support this position for qualified individuals.
The ideal candidate is a nationally recognized leader in vascular neurology, committed to clinical excellence, research innovation, mentorship, and program development. They will provide strategic direction for the division, oversee clinical care and quality initiatives, lead a research program, and contribute to the education and training of future vascular neurologists.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration: Oversee the division's strategic growth, faculty recruitment, and program development while ensuring alignment with departmental and institutional goals.
Clinical Excellence: Supervise and enhance stroke and cerebrovascular care, develop clinical programs, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
Research & Scholarship: Maintain an independent, funded research program, foster collaborations, mentor faculty and trainees in scholarly work, and secure extramural research funding.
Education & Mentorship: Provide leadership in resident, fellow, and medical student education, including training and mentorship.
Institutional & National Engagement: Represent vascular neurology at institutional, regional, and national levels, advocate for resources, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
Financial & Operational Oversight: Manage division finances, optimize clinical and research revenue, and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.

Required:
MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree
Board certification in Neurology and Vascular Neurology
Eligible for unrestricted medical license in Arizona
Leadership experience in an academic setting
Commitment to mentorship and interdisciplinary collaboration
Preferred:
Established record of extramural research funding
Experience leading clinical programs, research initiatives, or academic divisions
National recognition in stroke research or vascular neurology
