Supervises department staff responsible for carrying out the Mission and Supporting Commitments of Eisenhower Health. Plans, directs, organizes, and controls activities of the department to provide inpatient clinical education. Maintains strong relationships with education leaders in the ambulatory environment to ensure consistency with initiatives. Leads and functions as a change agent for organization initiatives, Joint Commission, projects, and compliance readiness teams related to Professional Practice. Job Description: Education: Required: Master’s degree in Nursing or related field; if Master’s is in a field other than nursing, a Bachelor’s degree must be earned in nursing. Preferred: DNP or PhD. Licensure/Certification: Required: California RN licensure; National certification appropriate for leadership or education (or obtain within 1 year of hire). Experience: Required: Five (5) years in a related nursing position with two (2) years of progressive leadership experience. Preferred: Experience in educational development and/or management in an acute care or ambulatory facility. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations. Oversees the development, coordination, strategic planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of educational and staff development programs for nursing staff, patients, and families within the inpatient environment. Leads department in the development of in-service, continuing education, orientation, and staff development programs based on needs assessments, curricula design, methodology, and evaluation criteria. Develops effective written materials, outlines, handouts, and evaluation tools. Provides evidence-based programming to encourage nursing certification status. Collaborates with Human Resources and Nursing in developing policies and procedures. Ensures compliance and documentation of organizational records based on regulatory agency standards, responding to corporate and industry changes in clinical development. Develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and improves the acute care nursing orientation program, cross-training, and educational competencies for clinical staff. Acts as a change agent within the facility through facilitation, mentoring, communication, leadership, and implementation activities. Evaluates departmental performance and implements changes to improve services. Keeps administration informed of activities, needs, and problems. Supervises and mentors staff for quality programming. Prepares reports depicting education assessments and strategic plans based on organizational needs. Organizes advertising and marketing strategies related to educational activities. Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational training programs for staff based on departmental needs assessments. Ensures effective teaching through various instructional methods tailored to the educational needs of each audience, including age considerations. Develops annual budgets with senior leadership to ensure resource adequacy. Coordinates educational services within inpatient divisions, collaborating with leadership, physicians, and educational staff. Works with Medical Education for interprofessional clinical education. Maintains procedures and systems related to Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies. Acts as a clinical expert and role model within Nursing Service. Proficient with project management and communication skills. Manages healthcare students and maintains membership in professional organizations. Understands organizational systems and structure. Proficient with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel. Aligns and negotiates clinical placements with area colleges.
