We are seeking a Director, Utility & IPP Origination to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies and this role report to Vice President, Global Power & Utilities and will be based remotely in CA .
The Director, Utility & IPP Origination would join our team to source, negotiate, and execute Power Purchase Agreements (“PPAs”) and Capital Purchase (“CapEx”) Agreements with utilities and independent power producers located in the US. This position will initiate new sales efforts and close transactions with utilities and IPPs. The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, constantly collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to meet revenue driven deadlines.
Role and Responsibilities:
Lead PPAs and CapEx Origination to utilities, IPPs, Co-Ops, and other potential utility-scale customers
Conduct preliminary evaluation of financial viability, policy and regulatory review, development, and go-to-market strategies
Identify, target, analyze, and execute on utility opportunities for Bloom’s utility scale product offerings including requests for bids (RFP/RFI) opportunities, bilateral agreements, develop proposals, and other commercial materials
Project manage cross-functional teams to execute product offerings and proposals
Build and Maintain Strategic Relationships with consultants, partners, EPCs, Independent System Operators (ISOs), government agencies, and other industry stakeholders who impact customer decision-making
Evaluate market conditions, market revenue potential, customer feedback, and regulatory landscapes to capitalize on new opportunities and adapt strategies accordingly
Communicate key deal points and present recommendations to executive management
Travel to customer meetings and relevant industry conferences
Provide input into the business plan and origination strategy
Work with regulatory and policy experts to track and incorporate policy efforts
Achieve measurable results and revenue targets
Education, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
15+ years of relevant utility and/or IPP power origination experience
Strong analytical, financial, and presentation skills
Experience with market entry analysis and development of go-to-market strategy required
Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
Ability to manipulate and synthesize financial models
Creative problem-solving and ability to work with ambiguity
Drive for quick results with vision of long term strategy
Strong self-starter who is a team player and can work independently
Ability to be externally facing and conduct customer and partner meetings
A strong desire to challenge and change the status quo
Ability to act independently in an unstructured environment, operate proactively and have a passion and appreciation for the vision and mission of the company
Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing complex power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other commercial contracts within the energy sector
Detail-oriented with a strong sense of personal responsibility and ownership of work product
Willingness to travel as required
Salary Ranges:
$144,000.00 - $234,000.00
