Job Purpose We are seeking a highly experienced, motivated and innovative Director to join the Translational & Clinical Genetics team within GSK Human Genetics and Genomics. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and hands-on analyses to identify, develop and deliver a portfolio of translational, data-driven activities to impact the GSK portfolio. The role emphasizes genetics with causal inference approaches and integration with genomics (especially proteomics) and clinical phenotypic data. Work will inform target discovery, biomarker discovery, disease and mechanistic understanding, indication and patient subgroup selection, and parsing treatment response using precision medicine approaches. The successful candidate will lead a team of direct reports and collaborate across functions and with external partners to advance drug discovery and clinical development. You will have opportunities to establish collaborations with external institutions and to develop scientific leadership through impactful work, publications, and presentations. Key responsibilities Utilize deep expertise in statistical genetics and the integration of genetics with genomic (including proteomics) and clinical phenotypic data to generate at-scale insights and address targeted translational scientific questions. Provide strategic leadership and hands-on analytical work to identify, develop, and deliver programs of work impacting the GSK drug development pipeline. Lead cross-functional GSK project teams, with emphasis on respiratory, hepatology, neurodegeneration, immunology and/or renal disease. Identify, set up and oversee external scientific collaborations. Effectively communicate analysis findings to project teams within and outside the Human Genetics & Genomics organization. Deliver personal and team objectives with strong statistical, analytic and translational context understanding. Stay informed about emerging technologies and methodologies in translational genetics, especially causal inference approaches, and evaluate their potential for the organization. Lead a team of direct reports and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous professional learning. Basic Qualifications PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, biomedical statistics, computational sciences, bioinformatics or machine learning) with a record of impactful publications and/or presentations. Extensive experience in genetics and analyses that integrate genetics, genomics (especially proteomics) and clinical phenotypic data to address translational questions in drug discovery and development. Expertise in genetic causal inference approaches (Mendelian randomization) with understanding of emerging methodologies. Ability to drive development and implementation of new methodologies to integrate genetics and genomics for translational questions in drug discovery and development. Demonstrated ability to identify key scientific questions and develop innovative analytical solutions to impact the drug discovery pipeline. Strong proficiency in at least one of R or Python, with reproducible, scalable code that adheres to FAIR principles. Experience in line management and supporting professional development of team members. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Preferred Qualifications Excellent collaboration and partnership skills to work with internal stakeholders across functions. Experience setting up and overseeing external collaborations. Experience working in different trusted research environments (TREs). Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams to meet project timelines. Familiarity with stages of drug discovery and development. Why GSK?
