GENERAL FUNCTION
The Director, Threat Intelligence and Threat Emulation , reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Cybersecurity Threat Interdiction, will be responsible for creating and implementing the strategic goals of the Threat Intel and Threat Emulation Team, including people management. Key responsibilities include managing the gathering and processing of tactical intelligence from internal and external sources; creating strategic intelligence products to facilitate cybersecurity decision-making; analyzing and profiling threat actors; identifying threat detection opportunities for the Detection, Analysis and Response team (DART); providing intelligence insights into Third Party security and Vulnerability Management programs; and supporting DART during cybersecurity incidents. The role also involves managing cybersecurity threat emulation operations to test and improve detection and response capabilities, along with leadership duties such as employee development, performance reviews, and HR processes.
The Director will also be responsible for risk identification by fostering open communication, following policies, and ensuring actions align with customer and organizational interests. They will drive a positive customer experience while managing risks effectively.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and define intelligence-driven defense strategies, goals, and metrics aligned with broader business strategies, demonstrating operational effectiveness.
Manage resources within budget and align with Information Security initiatives.
Maintain relationships with law enforcement, government agencies, ISACs, trust groups, and industry peers.
Present the Information Security Division's mission, programs, products, and services positively to stakeholders.
Establish and maintain intelligence collection priorities, evaluate and select technologies to automate processes, and create custom solutions as needed, including testing response capabilities.
Keep key stakeholders informed about necessary actions and needs.
Develop and coach team members, identify organizational gaps, and propose solutions.
Stay informed about emerging threats, new technologies, and best practices, providing insights on future directions.
Collaborate with peers across the organization to foster teamwork and shared strategies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performance management, employee development, feedback, disciplinary actions, succession planning, and talent pipeline development.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
7-10 years in IT or Cyber Security, with 6-10 years in leadership and hands-on experience.
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent experience.
Proficiency with Linux, Windows, Active Directory, VPN, encryption, authorization/authentication systems, network monitoring, and TCP/IP networks.
Knowledge or experience in cyber defense and intelligence operations.
Familiarity with cyber defense technologies like DLP, SIEM, TIP, IDS/IPS, malware detection, etc.
Preferred certifications: CISSP, GIAC, CISM.
Experience with security controls such as authentication, encryption, IPS, WAFs, firewalls, HIPS.
Understanding of application protocols, security frameworks, governance standards, and compliance.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of simplifying complex information and meeting deadlines.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build trust and rapport within the team and organization.
Salary range: $119,500 - $256,900 annually. Location: Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.
