Job Description

SUMMARY

We are seeking a strategic Director - Technical Product Management to establish, standardize, and optimize Technical Product Management practices across our agile development organization. This role will serve as the center of excellence for TPM methodology, ensuring consistency, quality, and effectiveness of technical product managers embedded within cross-functional agile teams.

The successful candidate will build and implement standardized frameworks, tools, and processes while developing TPM talent through comprehensive training programs and career development pathways. This position requires a unique blend of technical product management expertise, program management skills, and organizational development capabilities. This role is key to achieving an effective and industry-leading technical product management team and instilling Expeditors’ culture in everything we do.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 TPM Standardization & Framework Development

  • Design and implement standardized TPM methodologies, processes, and best practices across all agile teams
  • Develop a comprehensive TPM operating framework including requirements’ gathering, user story creation, backlog management, and stakeholder communication protocols
  • Create and maintain TPM playbooks, templates, and documentation standards
  • Establish consistent metrics and KPIs for TPM performance measurement across teams
  • Define and enforce quality standards for technical requirements documentation and product specification

Tools & Technology Standardization

  • Evaluate, select, and implement standardized toolsets for TPM activities
  • Develop tool integration strategies and workflow automation to enhance TPM efficiency
  • Create standardized dashboards and reporting mechanisms for product metrics and team performance
  • Maintain tool governance and ensure consistent configuration across all agile teams
  • Drive adoption of emerging tools and technologies (AI/ML) that enhance TPM effectiveness

TPM Skills Development & Training

  • Define TPM competency framework including technical, product, and soft skills requirements
  • Design and deliver comprehensive TPM training programs for new hires and existing team members
  • Collaborate in building personalized development roadmaps and career progression pathways for TPMs
  • Establish mentorship programs pairing senior and junior TPMs
  • Coordinate external training opportunities, certifications, and conference attendance
  • Identify skill gaps and development opportunities across the TPM organization
  • Support hiring and onboarding processes for new TPM roles

Coordination & Program Management

  • Facilitate cross-team coordination and knowledge sharing among embedded TPMs
  • Organize regular TPM community of practice meetings, workshops, and retrospectives
  • Coordinate with Scrum Masters, Engineering Managers, and Product Owners to optimize team dynamics
  • Drive alignment between TPM activities and broader organizational product strategy

Organizational Change Management

  • Lead the adoption of new TPM practices and methodologies across agile teams
  • Manage change management initiatives related to process improvements and tool implementations
  • Foster culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the TPM community
  • Collaborate on TPM job descriptions, compensation benchmarking, and career ladders

System of Design Leadership (Core UI/UX )

  • Lead and manage Central Design System team composed  of UX/UI designers & researchers, front-end developers, engineers and technical writers.
  • The Central Design System team builds and maintains the enterprise front end design system  and component library. Sets UI/UX standards, guidelines, tokens and reusable patterns; and selects and manages the enterprise level tools for UI/UX research, design and testing.

The Central Design System team acts as a hub in support of UI/UX designers and front-end developers embedded in the different agile teams ensuring consistency and collaboration.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product management experience with proven track record of success
  • Experience in technology companies with large-scale agile transformations
  • Proven experience and knowledge in Logistics, Customs and Trade Compliance domains
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and product development lifecycle
  • Extensive experience with technical product management tools and technologies
  • Strong background in requirements gathering, user story writing, and backlog management
  • Experience with technical architecture discussions, API design, and system integration
  • Knowledge of software development processes and engineering best practices
  • Proven ability to design and implement standardized processes and frameworks at enterprise scale
  • Strong change management and organizational development capabilities
  • Performance management and coaching experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels and strong facilitation and workshop leadership capabilities
  • Ability to build consensus and drive adoption across cross-functional teams
  • Cultural intelligence and ability to work effectively in diverse, global environments

Job Location:

Seattle, WA (multiple office locations in the Seattle metropolitan area available)

Position requires working in the office full-time (Monday – Friday); a hybrid or remote work environment is not available.

Must have immigration qualifications to work in the U.S.

Salary Range

85,000 - 100,000 USD annually

This position is eligible for variable bonus compensation
