This position works collaboratively with Senior Leadership as well as other departments through developing, planning, and implementing the supply chain infrastructure for sourcing, procurement, and supply management for both direct and indirect categories.
The Director of Supply Chain is the supply management partner for both the Research and Development/Engineering Department and Manufacturing Operations and is responsible for sourcing and overseeing established procurement processes.
This position drives strategy development and implementation, common process definition and deployment, procurement organizational development and leadership, and delivery to support client-based schedules.
He/ she is expected to develop and enhance centralization efforts of the procurement function as well as manage cross supply chain vendor relationships. The Director of Supply Chain will collaborate with Finance, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, as well as Research and Development to continuously improve the end to end procure-to-pay cycle. This role also facilitates collaboration and leverage of spend across Global BUs.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning:
Undertake management and strategic responsibilities associated with planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating administrative and operational activities of the purchasing, contract development, and asset management.
Identify and implement strategies to enhance the effective delivery of these operations and services
Develop and manage Procurement operating budget, preparing forecasts, authorizing allocation of funds and reviewing and approving expenditures
Inventory Management and Logistics:
Manages the Production Control, Warehouse, and Logistics functions, ensuring accurate and cost effective material storage, inbound/outbound logistics, and replenishment of materials to manufacturing lines
Oversee development and execution of a scalable, cost-conscious distribution and logistics strategy.
Proactively manage relationships with third party service providers to achieve the best relationship of price to performance, while cultivating strong and stable relationships with suppliers
Procurement Operations:
Identify opportunities to improve procurement effectiveness and develop an action plan for implementation in close coordination with Senior Leadership
Ensure up-to-date procurement policies and procedures that are aligned to best practice.
Ensure compliance to these policies and procedures on an ongoing basis
Lead the Procurement group for preparation of strategic tenders and evaluation of all bids received from Suppliers
Establish, monitor and report service level goals, key performance indicators, and client satisfaction criteria for procurement operations, procurement services and strategic sourcing
Supplier Relationship Management:
Develop and maintain a supplier relationship management program that optimizes value for money and delivery from suppliers and supports best practice relationship management
Supervise a Supplier Relationship Management methodology with strategic and critical suppliers in conjunction with internal stakeholders
Monitor the performance of suppliers in relation to key performance indicators and delivery of services
Undertake performance benchmarking and work with relevant stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
Stakeholder Management:
Ensure close collaboration with business units and functional partners including IT, Finance, HR, Quality and others
Work closely with the Accounting Department to ensure that Suppliers are paid as scheduled
Collaborate with staff to develop policies, responses, and solutions to issues, concerns, and problems
Team Management:
Manage and direct day-to-day operational activities of direct reports and drive effective escalation daily to address critical items impacting Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Provide ongoing career development, support and coaching for direct reports
Provide feedback to team, and identify need-based training requirements for direct reports

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university, or the equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Typically requires 12+ years of supervisory experience with Bachelors, or 10+ years with Master, or 8+ years with PhD. 15+ years of related functional experience required.
Experience:
15+ years of hands-on experience in a similar type of environment having grown through the organization. In-depth knowledge of the EMS industry, business, the markets served, and ALL functional areas within the business. CSPS certification preferred.
Experience as a leader of manufacturing operations in both large and small companies and exposed to progressive best practices in all functional areas.
Has direct deep expertise in shop floor and machine shop manufacturing models, concepts and methodologies covering: Process flows, Mfg. Execution Systems, Line Balancing, Theory of Constraints, OEE, TPM, Lean, PIP, Metrics dashboards, Cellular Mfg., Low Vol hi Mix, Single piece flow, Factory Layout, and tools such as SMED, 5S, QFD, FMEA, 8D, CAPA, plus areas such as Regulatory and Environmental Controls, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, HR and Labor compliance.
