JOB SUMMARY The Director Spiritual Care will provide and manage total pastoral care, support, and counseling for the NCH Healthcare System's patients, family members, volunteers, and staff. The Director will facilitate the ministry of area clergy in providing support and information in caring for their parishioners during hospitalization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned. ·Provides pastoral visitation, spiritual care, bereavement care, counseling and support to patients and family members to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of the patients. ·Provides emergency pastoral care with On Call Chaplain services 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. ·Develops, maintains, and monitors appropriate policies and procedures for the Spiritual Care Department, and the NCH Crisis Intervention Team. ·Recruits, trains, and supervises Volunteer Chaplains to assist in delivering spiritual care to patients and family members. ·Assures adequate staffing of the Spiritual Care Department program to effectively meet the emotional and spiritual needs of the patients. ·Participates in community programs, civic organizations, and clergy groups to enhance the vision, mission, and image of NCH. ·Provides staff training and information to successfully meet the emotional and spiritual needs of the patients. ·Is a member of the NCH Critical Incident Team and provides psycho-social and spiritual support to staff experiencing a critical event. ·Serves as a member of the NCH Bioethics Team providing On Call rotation, bioethics consults and pastoral leadership. ·Serves as a member of the NCH Cancer Committee providing spiritual support and pastoral leadership. ·Supports community clergy hospital visitation by issuing the NCH Identification Badge after providing the clergy with an orientation and training in hospital protocol, policy, confidentiality, right of privacy, and HIPAA information. ·Plans, organizes, and conducts worship services, special Holy Day services and Memorial Services as required. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS ·Minimum of bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University, and master’s degree from an accredited Theological Seminary required. ·Minimum of four accredited units of Clinical Pastoral Education. ·Minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience; preferably in healthcare. ·Minimum of 4 years of experience in pastoral following ordination. ·Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains or its equivalent preferred. ·Excellent communication, interpersonal, administrative, and pastoral skills ·Ability to demonstrate pastoral competence and articulate pastor function. ·Possess managerial skills and supervisory experience. ·Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
