Overview

Director Software Engineering role at Fidelity Investments. Join an exciting new incubator within Fidelity (FCAT) geared at rapidly moving ideas from concepts to scale to bring game-changing ideas to market. The role is based in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design and build pilots and new products in collaboration with the VP of Software Engineering.
• Lead a small development team in a fast-paced and highly ambiguous environment, working with emerging technologies and high risk.
• Provide technical leadership, set direction, and deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Turn concepts into finished products, leveraging a hands-on, proactive approach.
• Collaborate with peers to resolve technical and design issues and communicate with stakeholders and executive management as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
• Hands-on technical leader with a track record of defining technical architecture and delivering solutions.
• Significant experience leading and managing small teams.
• Experience with a variety of programming languages, frameworks, operating systems, and platforms.
• Full-Stack development experience (front-end, middle-tier & database).
• At least 6 years of Java programming experience.
• Experience with Spring Boot and event-driven architecture is desirable.
• Experience developing native cloud applications using microservices.
• Solid understanding of Kubernetes and databases.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• NoSQL experience desirable.
• Ability to take a concept and turn it into a finished product; ability to learn and adopt diverse technologies.
• Strategic thinking, strong problem-solving, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Motivated, self-directed, and results-oriented with a hands-on work style.

Additional Information
