About The Role

The Director of Risk & Safety is responsible for the management, development, and implementation of the company's Property, Casualty, and Construction insurance programs through risk identification, mitigation, prevention, and transfer.

This leader will provide strategic direction, analysis, and oversight in the management of claims and litigation, while continuously assessing and addressing risks that could impact the safety, security, reputation, or financial success of the company.

This is a highly collaborative role requiring cross-functional partnership with Legal, Operations, Construction, and People teams to effectively reduce risk and ensure business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage Property, Casualty, and Construction insurance programs
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate key business risks through prevention and transfer strategies
  • Lead claims management processes, particularly in the areas of Workers' Compensation and General Liability
  • Manage relationships with external insurance brokers and providers
  • Support litigation strategy and coordination with legal counsel
  • Build and execute risk training and awareness programs for internal stakeholders
  • Drive risk-related reporting, analytics, and documentation

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in Risk Management, with a focus on Property & Casualty insurance
  • Claims experience specifically in Workers' Compensation and General Liability
  • Prior experience supporting a multi-unit business (e.g., retail, hospitality, restaurants)
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across all levels of the organization

  • Deep understanding of insurance program management and claims oversight
  • Proficiency in risk assessment and data-driven analysis
  • Knowledge of industry standards and legal/regulatory compliance in risk and insurance
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
