Key Accountabilities: Develop and implement regulatory strategies that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Ensure that nuclear facilities and operations are in full compliance with regulatory standards such as the Atomic Energy Act, the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and various industry-specific safety and environmental standards. Work closely with senior leadership to integrate regulatory considerations into long-term business strategy, including nuclear plant construction, upgrades, or decommissioning. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of regulatory affairs professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous learning. Ensure the team is up to date on regulatory developments and industry best practices, providing training and professional development opportunities. Identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory risks related to the licensing, operation, and shutdown of nuclear plants. Education, Experience & Skill Requirements: Bachelor's degree (minimum), Master's or advanced degree preferred (e.g., Nuclear Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Law). 15+ years in nuclear power industry, with 10+ years in regulatory affairs, including leadership experience in managing teams and projects, and specific regulatory experience with NRC or equivalent bodies. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills Deeply focused regulatory and compliance knowledge required Key Metrics: Licensing approval timeliness and number of requests for additional information. Regulatory risk mitigation effectiveness. Resolution time for regulatory issues. Industry representation and leadership. Cost savings from regulatory compliance programs. Regulatory cost efficiency.
