The Director, Quality & Operational Excellence leads and manages the operational excellence strategies for the company's South Region . Ensures the Company’s productivity, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement efforts. Oversees the Company’s Lean improvement efforts and Six Sigma as relevant, resolution of major quality problems, preparation of standards and procedures to support organizational goals and strategic planning. Report and provide feedback of corporate and facility performance. All responsibilities done in conjunction with operations support.
Strong preference for candidates in the south central or southeast U.S. from Texas to the Carolinas due to travel expectations.
Position Responsibilities:
Develops and implements strategic and tactical plans involving Operational Excellence and value stream optimization. Performs planning focused on operational processes as well as develop standards and controls to ensure achievement of goals and sustainability.
Provide training and coaching on “The DCI Way” across the network as required to ensure organizational awareness and proficiency in foundational methods and tools.
Ensures Six Sigma and Lean methodologies and tools are implemented and utilized to improve products and processes, resulting in improved throughput, increased uptime, minimized service nonconformances and optimized customer experience.
Conducts continuous improvement events and workshops designed to reduce cost, waste, improve turnaround time and overall customer satisfaction; Support the development of tools, methods and systems to improve quality of service and higher efficiency in daily operations.
Assists where needed with problem resolution and customer concern management.
Provides mentoring, coaching, and leadership to depot managers and regional leadership for resolution of production and quality issues, customer complaints and improvement in operational metrics along with ensuring personnel development and growth.
Suggests capital investment needed to improve capacity utilization, cycle time and quality, as well as reduce costs, meet or exceed customer requirements, and allow for expansion of facilities. Conducts analyses to determine the most cost-effective footprint to support our customer’s requirements. Leads projects as necessary.
Participates in inter-facility activities to promote the sharing of knowledge, information and best practices among multiple locations (domestic and global).
Align continuous improvement projects to strategic initiatives and/or annual budget performance objectives; Supports strategic initiatives and projects as required.
Support technology transformation roadmap and initiatives advancing Operational Excellence.
Administers company polices in fair and consistent manner and recommends changes when necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field; Masters degree preferred. Degree qualifications may be supplanted by extensive experience in the industry and/or OpEx, Lean/Six Sigma field.
Ten (10) years of management experience in quality, manufacturing, or production.
Knowledge of products, equipment, processes, customer applications, quality systems, continuous improvement tools, and problem-solving techniques.
Ability to lead, manage, and motivate people and ability to train others in the principles of Six Sigma and Lean.
Ability to process and analyze data to evaluate and assess key performance indicators and trends.
Excellent creative thinking, communication, planning, organization and P&L skills.
Must be able to travel up to 50%
