Position Details
The Office of Development and University Relations at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Director of Prospect Research. Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Services, the Director of Prospect Research is responsible for conducting extensive research to identify prospective donors for the University. This position will organize and present information in comprehensive, standardized reports and profiles which are used to evaluate prospective donors, to determine the potential for productive relationships with the University, and to develop successful cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Responsibilities
- Compile, analyze, and verify biographical and financial information of past, present and potential donors, including business and institutional affiliations, giving histories, and past philanthropic tendencies.
- Develop comprehensive reports on potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors, determining pertinent information based on a thorough understanding of the donor's background in consultation with the President and/or Development Staff.
- Utilize technology to monitor and report on portfolios, pipeline data, and opportunities and maintain fundraiser dashboards for real-time updates
- Assist/Collaborate with gift officers in developing fundraising recommendations and participating in strategic planning efforts.
- Judge source reliability and ensure accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality of research.
- Stay current on news sources to track news on prospects and update appropriate development officers in a timely manner.
- Assist the Advancement Services team in assisting with database cleanup and gift processing as needed.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Three to five years of previous prospect researching experience preferred.
- Experience in higher education preferred.
- Familiarity with prospect researching resources, including Raiser's Edge, iWave, and ResearchPoint.
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills needed as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
