About Brook Inc

Brook Health is a digital health company. Brook offers a set of products and services extending health-care-management beyond the walls of doctors’ offices and into people’s homes and their day-to-day lives. Brook provides people who are living with chronic conditions a highly personalized high-touch support via a smartphone app offering AI tools, data collection through connected devices, and real-time access to health coaches to make smart, daily decisions and to build healthy habits to achieve their long-term health goals. Brook also offers a CDC-approved preventative program for people who are at high risk for diabetes. For primary care providers, Brook offers SaaS tools for continuous remote monitoring, providing insights into their patient’s health needs, enabling a new model of care, and early preventative interventions with our own care delivery team resulting in better health outcomes.

Brook offers a dynamic work experience with team members in multiple time zones. We have a fast-paced, user-centric, high-expectation, constantly-improving-ourselves type of culture. Our goal is to change the approach to pre-condition and chronic condition care management, to use technology to support health-care providers in improving patients’ health outcomes.

Job Overview

The Director, Product Design is a senior member of Brook Health’s Product organization, responsible for leading design strategy and execution across Brook’s ecosystem of products and experiences. Working closely with Product and Engineering, this role helps define what we build and why—not just how it looks.

The Director shapes how patients, providers, and care teams engage with Brook’s platform, creating intuitive, compliant, and data-driven experiences that improve engagement, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.

This position reports to the Chief Product Officer, is part of the Product Leadership Team, and requires periodic travel.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Design Leadership

  • Co-own the product vision with Product and Engineering, defining a north-star experience that connects clinical, engagement, and commercial goals.
  • Establish design principles that balance consumer-grade usability with healthcare compliance and clinical integrity.
Embed design early in discovery—defining problems worth solving, validating concepts with users, and de-risking investments before build.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusivity across all platforms (web, mobile, SMS, voice, and email).

Design Systems and Experience Architecture

  • Lead Brook’s design-system ecosystem to ensure consistency, accessibility, and scalability across patient, provider, and operational tools.
  • Translate design principles into reusable patterns that accelerate delivery and reinforce trust.
  • Partner with Engineering to make the design system a shared, evolving asset.

Research, Data, and Insights

  • Build a mixed-methods research practice that turns user insights into prioritization inputs and measurable outcomes.
  • Leverage AI-powered research and prototyping tools to accelerate iteration.
  • Partner with Data to instrument experiences, identify friction points, and connect design quality to measurable outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Clinical, and Partner Success to balance usability, feasibility, and business viability.
  • Facilitate design reviews, critiques, and discovery sessions that build shared understanding and alignment.

Operational Excellence

  • Define and track quality and process metrics—component reuse, accessibility compliance, and defect rate—that link design craft to business impact.
  • Serve as Design Owner within empowered product teams, ensuring designs meet readiness standards without slowing delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and communication across distributed teams.

Team Development and Culture

  • Recruit, coach, and develop a world-class design team with clear growth paths and career ladders.
  • Foster a psychologically safe, feedback-driven culture grounded in curiosity, learning, and craft.
  • Model transparency—sharing insights, rationale, and outcomes to build trust across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in product design, with 5+ years leading multidisciplinary teams in healthcare, fintech, or similarly regulated domains.
  • Fluent in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and product discovery frameworks (Double Diamond, JTBD, Opportunity Solution Trees).
  • Experience with conversational and AI-driven interfaces.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to drive measurable product or clinical outcomes through design (not just visual polish).
  • Deep experience in design-system architecture and governance across multiple product lines.
  • Strong data literacy and expertise in information design—able to translate complex health data into clear, engaging visual experiences that help patients and clinicians understand, act, and improve outcomes.
  • Confident communicator—able to influence at the executive level and advocate for design’s role in achieving business results.
  • Thrives in ambiguity, moves fast with intention, and believes in open access to information as a foundation for trust and empowerment.
