The Director of Patient Access oversees Patient Access operations for health system. Analyze, plan, implement and monitor services provided by staff in assigned patient access areas. Develop policies and procedures to govern the operation of those areas in compliance with regulatory bodies. Act as a liaison for decentralized registration areas. Ensure registration training and staff competency of Coordination Center, Outpatient Center and Outpatient Scheduling and decentralized registration. Work directly with Patient Financial Services and Medical Records to ensure and enhance revenue collection at time of service.
Essential Duties Accountable for team providing outstanding customer service to external and internal customers. Analyze, communicate and implement government and payer reimbursement changes to ensure continued compliance. Conduct ongoing analyses and assessments of operational performance for continuous process improvements, improved efficiency and improved customer service. Develop staff in assigned departments to ensure growth and leadership development. Other related duties as assigned. Partner with clinical service departments to ensure effective and efficient processes, which are documented and followed for timely and accurate revenue capture and reconciliation. Proactively evaluate, recommend, and implement systems and practices that would enhance and improve processes. Provide oversight and leadership for Physician Revenue Cycle process. Provide oversight and leadership for access areas including centralized Access, Outpatient Center, Outpatient Scheduling and Labor Pool. Provide oversight of responsible areas to ensure accuracy and adherence with governmental and payer billing rules and regulations. Provide oversight to ensure responsible areas are at best practice standards for Key Performance metrics and provide monthly statistical and financial Key Performance metrics report card for internal functions and outsourced business partners. Responsible for employee satisfaction and staff retention through practices that promote communication, rewards/recognition, teamwork and administration of effective employee relations. Ability to travel to remote office locations, as needed.
Required Experience 5 years experience in healthcare access with at least three years experience in a leadership role. Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and practices related to patient access required. Experience with computerized electronic medical record system required.
