Overview As the Packaging Creative Director, you'll be the innovator for our packaging solutions championing design excellence across the Devices portfolio. You'll lead an agile design team to craft an unboxing experience that balances simplicity, accessibility, and sustainability while creating customer delight. You'll develop global and regional packaging designs from creative briefs, collaborating across Industrial Design, Packaging Engineering, UX, Brand, and Research teams. You'll navigate technical constraints while delivering elegant solutions that align with strategic design vision. Your role encompasses both high-level creative direction and hands-on design oversight, from initial concept development throughout the full product life cycle. Responsibilities Manage a small team of graphic designers and print production designers. Guide the team through design, concept development, and the execution of print production. Ability to create and design materials, images, and messages for packaging mock-ups to drive decisions. Enhance design practices within the team through processes like critiques and design sprints, fostering a culture of excellence. Distill complex information into accessible, engaging design deliverables. Ability to cut through ambiguity on complex topics and confidently articulate concepts and present work to senior leaders and executives, and other strategic partners via clear, compelling storytelling. Demonstrates eagerness to embrace innovative approaches while maintaining a strong commitment to personal growth and team development. Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners and stakeholders. Provide mentorship and creative direction to designers, cultivating talent while upholding exceptional design standards. Oversee production execution, ensuring quality control, color accuracy, and adherence to material specifications. Champion the consumer experience by shaping the full packaging journey—from striking shelf presence to a memorable unboxing moment. Basic Qualifications Must provide a creative portfolio or work samples. 15+ years of creative design experience. 5+ years of people management experience. Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience working directly with executive teams and senior leadership in corporate environments. Proven record driving collaboration and influencing decisions by building positive relationships. Hands on experience with retail packaging, deep knowledge of user experience, and ability to iterate multiple concepts and creative solutions. Clear and concise communicator with strong organizational skills, and ability to create clear processes, while maintaining flexibility for change. Strong business acumen and ability to prioritize projects and resources based on business needs and priority shifts. Ability to cut through ambiguity on complex topics and confidently articulate concepts and present work to senior leaders and executives, and other strategic partners via clear, compelling visuals and physical assets. Experience working with UX designers and engineering leads to develop packaging designs that are intuitive and fun. Possesses a strong design sensibility with a knack for compelling visual storytelling. Combines creative thinking with a practical, hands-on mindset. Preferred Qualifications An understanding of the unique challenges of integrating multiple product form factors into a cohesive unboxing experience. Experience working with paper-based materials to package tech products and complex consumer electronics. Comfort exploring and experimenting with new methodologies and continuously seeking to improve both personal and team performance. A deep understanding of retail and e-commerce dynamics. Thrives in a very dynamic environment, and can effectively work across cross-functional teams and geographies while demonstrating integrity at all times. The base pay for this position ranges from $228,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
