This position is responsible for the comprehensive oversight and management of operations staff, manufacturing processes, procurement, quality assurance, project management, productivity, timely delivery metrics, cost control, budgeting/forecasting, and asset management. The Director will lead and cultivate a highly effective team in a fast-paced, matrixed setting, focusing on enhancing processes in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery performance, and inventory management through the implementation of best business practices such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma . The role involves implementing company and factory policies across manufacturing operations and translating them into actionable business, team, and individual objectives. This position reports to the VP of Operations for Hubbell Electrical Solutions (HES). Key Responsibilities Offer advice, coaching, and mentoring to team members on operational initiatives and required changes. Organize and oversee activities to meet production timelines and budget goals. Serve as a trusted business partner to the Business Unit Leadership and VP of Operations by fostering a culture of accountability and clear communication. Communicate effectively with BU management regarding status, goals, and countermeasures through detailed KPIs. Maintain high standards for environmental, health & safety, quality, and customer service. Drive operations to improve the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) discipline, ensuring customer service delivery is maximized. Maintain fiscal discipline by establishing and monitoring annual operating plans, forecasts, and reviewing operating and capital expenditures. Coordinate with HR to develop succession planning strategies, ensuring leadership continuity and role fulfillment. Oversee and coordinate with other business units on operational matters to drive consistency. Select, develop, evaluate, and, if necessary, terminate personnel in all reporting positions. Implement plans for additional equipment, improved processes, and facilities. Maintain safety programs to ensure conformance to company, corporate, and government requirements. Lead facility consolidation/efficiency, Greenfield/Brownfield projects for cost reduction and capacity expansion. Participate in strategic planning, focusing on production, productivity, and growth strategies. Ensure manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed industry and customer requirements. Manage responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws. Develop and manage the annual operating budget. Qualifications for Success Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Management, Engineering, Operations, or equivalent; MBA preferred. 15 years’ experience as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, or Director of Operations, preferably in medium to heavy manufacturing in Mexico. Bi-lingual in Spanish and English, with strong multicultural experience. At least 10 years of proven leadership in supervisory roles. Approximately 70% travel requirements, depending on company needs. Preferred Skills Strong knowledge of financial management. Results-oriented, metric-driven, disciplined leadership style. Experience with Supply Chain and ERP systems (SAP preferred). Over 5 years’ experience with Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma quality processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and PC applications. Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues efficiently. Effective project management skills, including planning, coordinating, and completing projects on time and within budget.
