Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Oncology Infusion Centers will be responsible for the services and Staff at all locations. Requires a well- organized, strong, team leader who can guide the teams, prioritize and travel between all locations. Accountable for the delivery of consistent, high quality patient care, promoting the development and satisfaction of the Oncology Infusion centers. This position encompasses all aspects of patient-focused care given at the Oncology Infusion centers, as well as personnel management, development, and fiscal responsibility. Responsible for Apheresis services. In conjunction with research leadership and staff, manages and coordinates research efforts required for infusion services and apheresis services.
Develops collaborative relationships with physicians and supports Staff in providing outpatient services at the Hoag Family Cancer Center. Responsible for the daily oversight of outpatient operations, meeting all regulatory agency, compliance and clinical quality standards to provide efficient and safe patient care. Has responsibility for continuous quality improvement using the DMAIC methodology. Displays and practices a work - style reflecting the mission, vision and values of Hoag. Maintains a working knowledge of standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance. Responsible for providing an environment promoting high quality care. Holds staff accountable in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational, center policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Implements and evaluates approved policies, procedures, and standards of practice necessary for the coordination and delivery of excellent, patient-focused care at the center areas; conducts compliance audits.
Direct oversight of all infusion and apheresis clinical operations including patient admissions, visit flow, patient follow-up, billing, insurance/payor issues, staffing, training, compliance, policy and procedure initiation, implementation and updating. Responsible for operational budgets. Responsible for the hiring, managing, training, retention and development of staff.
Actively participates on committees and initiatives as a representative of the Oncology Infusion Centers promoting their services throughout the Organization and community at large. Promotes an environment sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of patients and Organizational staff. Ensures that quality patient care is delivered to all patients on a 24-hour basis, and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and the philosophy and goals of Hoag. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor's in nursing (BSN)
7 plus years of experience in a hospital environment managing infusion care
License Required RN Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of California
Certifications
Required: BLS: AHA Basic Life Support
Preferred: OCN: Oncology Certified Nurse
