Job Description
The Director of Workforce Development of the organization plays a key role in shaping and executing the organization's workforce development vision, driving strategy, and program development to foster awareness and engagement with the creative industry. Through management of the InspireMSP team, the Director ensures a collaborative and high-performing environment, guiding program development and implementation that supports and builds a more dynamic and inclusive industry through enhancing both the creative community and the audience it serves.
Central to this role is the development of workforce programming, providing experiences, resources, and opportunities necessary for individuals to thrive and contribute to the enhancement of the creative industry. The Director is also tasked with cultivating and maintaining robust relationships with community leaders, educational partners, and stakeholders, reinforcing Hennepin Arts' commitment to creative programming and its role in enriching community life. Through leadership in education strategy, program development, team management, and creative workforce development, the Director of Workforce Development ensures the sustained growth and success of HA creative workforce development programming.
Requirements:Strategy and Program Development (40%)
- Develop and implement Hennepin Arts Workforce Development strategy and programming
- Design and implement the comprehensive experience strategy that supports Hennepin Arts objectives, sustaining and expanding its offerings for partners, and deepening statewide reach
- Co-create sections of the program budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to support program goals and financial sustainability
- Design roles, template contracts, hire artistic labor, and onboard support staff to ensure programmatic execution and growth each year
- Support outcomes and budget monitoring, ensuring programs align with Hennepin Art’s mission and meet the needs of the community
- Oversee the programming, development, and execution of Career Day
People Management (25%)
- Manage the Workforce Development Team
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as well as collaboration, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence
- Model the values, ethics, and performance standards for the team
- Monitor performance goals and assign programmatic accountabilities
- Delegate work, providing clear expectations regarding due dates, budget, and any quality-related requirements
- Require programmatic documentation and organization
- Performance Management - Set performance goals, monitor staff performance, and conduct annual performance appraisals that embody Hennepin Arts’ values and ethics
- Staff Development - Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement, coaching staff using a supportive, strengths-based approach and collaborating on a unified messaging strategy across all platforms
Creative Partner Development? + Community and Relationship Management (30%)
- Design, develop, and implement training and curriculum to support creative partners in the execution of experiences
- Lead efforts in identifying, building, and fostering a professional pipeline for creative industry partnerships, and a development environment that encourages cross-sector communication, collaboration, and partnerships
- Observe in-class and partner visits, provide feedback and coaching, and share observation information with the team
- Participate and lead programming as needed
- Identify partners who will strongly support the development of future programming
- Work as an advocate, helping cultivate careers and providing opportunities for skills advancement
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners, school partners, educational institutions, community organizations, artists, and stakeholders
- Build and maintain relationships with local and national partner organizations and teaching artists
- Conduct school visits, developing connections with school partners in their own communities
- Lead community impact initiatives as a subject matter expert of creative workforce development by participating in, attending, or leading workforce initiatives in communities we work with, city initiatives and programs, and industry partner programs/initiatives
Administrative (5%)
- Programmatic support
- Participate in annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
- Submit timely payables and expense reimbursements
- Ensure event information and compelling stories that support the Education’s proof points are shared effectively with Marketing and development
- Partner with the development team to track program-appropriate grant information and data
- Other duties as apparent or assigned
Qualifications
- Experience in or with the creative industry
- Connector and change maker mindset
- Project Management and strong organizational skills
- Experience designing budgets
- Experience leading programs and/or program development
- Project or program evaluation experience
- Demonstrated ability to create safe and inclusive environments for young people
- Able to build strong relationships with diverse communities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; proficient at public speaking

- Requires some evening and weekend hours
