Overview
Saint Louis University School of Law invites applications for the position of Director of the Vincent C. Immel Law Library. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the School of Law. Policy decisions concerning the Law Library are made by the Director, the Dean, and the faculty. The Director of the Law Library is eligible for appointment as a member of the law faculty with appropriate security of position.
Responsibilities
Direct all aspects of library operations, including long-term and short-term planning, budgeting (within the School of Law budget), and collection development.
Ensure compliance with ABA accreditation standards; oversee public services and government documents;
Hire and supervise a staff of full-time and part-time professional librarians and support staff; provide teaching, service, scholarship, and/or administrative work as appropriate.
Collaborate with the Dean, other senior leaders, faculty, staff, and students to advance the School of Law's mission.
Library Context
The Law Library
collection contains approximately 755,000 titles and the library has a budget of approximately $1.4 million. The Law Library works cooperatively with the University Libraries and shares an integrated library system. It participates in resource sharing and has been a leader in the Mid-America Law Library Consortium (MALLCO) and MOBIUS. It is also a participant in the Federal Depository Library Program and receives select resources from the Government Publishing Office.

Qualifications
J.D. from an ABA-accredited institution
Master degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution
Substantial experience in a law library

Function: Faculty - NonMedical Administrative Appointment, Nonmedical Primary Appointment 12 mo.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
