Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number: 20251260F Position Title: Director of the Tax Clinic Position Type: Faculty Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/12-months Department: 241-Law School Instruction Position Summary: Villanova University School of Law seeks an outstanding lawyer-educator to direct and teach its nationally regarded Tax Clinic. The Tax Clinic represents low-income clients in disputes with the IRS and with the PA Department of Revenue. The Clinic also engages in community education and systemic advocacy to improve the fairness and integrity of the tax system.
The Director will be a full-time continuing non-tenure track (governed by ABA Standard 405©).

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach clinic seminar focused on lawyering skills, professional development, and ethical practice, employing clinical teaching methods.
Supervise all aspects of student practice, employing clinical teaching pedagogy, and serve as the attorney of record in Clinic cases when required by the rules of the relevant jurisdiction.
Oversee all aspects of administration of the Tax Clinic, including but not limited to conducting outreach to clients, selecting cases, reporting to funding sources, and maintaining files.
Provide service to the Law School, University, and community, including working with and on behalf of low-income taxpayers in organizations that focus on the rights and responsibilities of low-income taxpayers. Minimum Qualifications: A Juris Doctor degree is required.
Pennsylvania bar membership (or an ability to waive into the Pennsylvania bar) is required.
An understanding of, and commitment to, clinical teaching methodology, including an ability to work both collaboratively and independently and a demonstrated interest in and aptitude for student supervision and teaching is required.
Expertise in relevant substantive areas of law is required.
Relevant legal practice experience is required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Preferred Qualifications: Five years of legal experience is strongly preferred, as is experience working on behalf of low-income taxpayers.
