About the Role

Lulu and Georgia is seeking a dynamic Director of Sourcing to lead and expand our textiles, rugs, and decorative accessories categories. This role is responsible for driving sourcing strategy, managing supplier relationships, overseeing product development, and ensuring compliance, while also guiding and mentoring a growing team.In this role, you’ll report to our VP of Product Development and work closely with our CEO, VP of Buying and Planning, Buyers, sourcing agencies, and our operations team. This is a great role for someone who has a passion for product sourcing, product development, negotiations, and building new and lasting relationships with manufacturers to foster mutual growth.


The brand is in a period of rapid growth and expansion, with new categories and business opportunities on the horizon. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is energized by both strategy and execution. They will work very closely with the VP of Product Development to maintain strong, established vendor relationships while also identifying new partners that support our long-term vision.


Responsibilities:


Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of Product Development Managers and Coordinators across textiles, rugs, and decorative accessories

  • Provide guidance, support, and accountability to ensure the successful execution of development and sourcing objectives

  • Foster a collaborative and agile culture that can adapt to new opportunities and challenges during this growth surge

  • Partner closely with the VP of Product Development to ensure vendor and agent relationships are strong, strategic, and future-ready


Category Ownership

  • Textiles & Soft Goods: bedding, bath, rugs, pillows, throws, fabric by the yard, curtains, doormats, holiday décor

  • Decorative Accessories: decorative objects, wallpaper, wall décor, mirrors, tabletop, and holiday décor

  • Ensure assortments are trend-right, commercially viable, and aligned with the brand’s design vision and growth strategy


Sourcing & Vendor Management

  • Build and execute global sourcing strategies that balance quality, margin, and speed to market

  • Oversee agent management and vendor relationships across all regions

  • Lead partner/vendor selection and onboarding for both established and new categories

  • Negotiate costs, lead times, and capacity to support both existing business and category expansion

  • Ensure all products meet QC and compliance standards (Prop 65, CPSIA, etc.)


Development, Timelines & Compliance

  • Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle from concept through commercialization

  • Ensure timely deliverables of all samples to adhere to development timelines and key milestones

  • Guarantee that product development decks are updated with clear, concise, and accurate information across all categories

  • Lead costing negotiations, proactively surfacing challenges and pain points in product development meetings

  • Partner with QA and compliance teams to maintain rigorous testing and certification requirements

  • Monitor production calendars to ensure schedules align with country-of-origin requirements, lead times, and any emerging challenges


Meetings, Communication & Alignment

  • Conduct and lead weekly product development meetings to review sample progress, timelines, costs, and category updates across the portfolio

  • Act as the primary communicator of sourcing and development updates, ensuring that pain points, risks, and opportunities are addressed in real time

  • Meet 1–2 times per week in person at either the MidCity office or warehouse to conduct category meetings and present updates to leadership and cross-functional teams

  • Provide clarity and alignment across design, merchandising, operations, and leadership teams, ensuring that all information is concise, timely, and actionable


Strategy, Growth & Agility

  • Serve as a pivotal leader in the brand’s expansion surge, guiding sourcing strategy for new categories and scaling current businesses

  • Identify and seize unforeseen opportunities for growth and category development

  • Support hospitality and B2B initiatives to broaden the brand’s reach

  • Establish sourcing best practices and frameworks that position the brand for long-term category leadership

  • Balance strategic vision with tactical execution, demonstrating agility in a fast-moving environment

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, product development, or merchandising, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

  • Deep expertise across both soft goods (textiles, rugs, bedding, bath) and decorative accessories

  • Strong vendor and agent management background with global sourcing experience

  • Proven ability to manage sample timelines, costing negotiations, and milestone adherence

  • Knowledge of compliance, QC, and testing standards required

  • Skilled at leading meetings, presenting updates, and keeping cross-functional teams aligned

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Strategic thinker who thrives on building categories and scaling businesses
