Position Title Director of SKILLS Center
Job Responsibilities
The inaugural Director of the Senator Roy and Abby BluntSKILLS (Sustained Knowledge of Integrated Lifelong Learning Skills) Center will play a crucial leadership role in the establishment, growth, and overall success of the new center. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing the center's strategic vision, overseeing all operational aspects, and building strong relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external. This position will adapt and grow with the center and as such, job duties may evolve over time.
SENATOR ROY AND ABBY BLUNT SKILLS CENTER
The Senator Roy and Abby BluntSKILLS Center will build upon the University's centralized academic, professional, and personal student support services by making these key services available to local and broader communities. It will further foster high impact experiences for Truman students, training them to lead and support learning opportunities for the community members. The Center's services will focus on the following areas: Lifelong Learning Support, Workforce Development Outreach, Rural Telehealth Counseling, K-12 Educator Outreach, and Academic Outreach Courses and Workshops. This vision positions Truman as an "Anchor Facility" for the Northeast Missouri region.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Development: Develop and implement the strategic plan for the SKILLS Center, aligning with Truman's mission and strategic plan. Identify key priorities, programs, and initiatives to support the SKILLS Center's objectives in its defined service areas. Oversee the development and implementation of programs and activities that effectively meet the needs of the target communities and audiences. In close collaboration with the Executive Director of Career Services and Employer Relations, identify workforce opportunities and develop and guide an advisory board that includes representation from sectors across the breadth of Truman's academic programs. The goal of the advisory board is to strengthen the University's college-to-career pipeline through counsel and as direct participants in career-related activities including master classes, industry panels, student mentoring, and other activities that stimulate the professional development of Truman students. Operational Management: Responsibly oversee the daily operations of the SKILLS Center, including recruiting and training student staff and volunteers, budgeting, and administrative processes. Partnerships, Community Engagement, and Resource Development: Identify and cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, employers, government agencies, business/industry, local organizations, educational institutions, and other potential partners that can provide resources and/or funding support. Develop and nurture strong relationships with faculty to meet curricular and other relevant needs of the Center. Promote the SKILLS Center and its services to the public, fostering community involvement and support. Represent the SKILLS Center at relevant community and professional forums. Required Qualifications
Qualifications Bachelor's degree Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership role Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with wide-ranging populations and stakeholders Preferred Qualifications
Desired Skills and Attributes Passion for the mission and goals of the SKILLS Center Strong connections and networks, including at the national level Strong organizational and time management skills Proven track record in successful resource development and/or fundraising initiatives Ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, community members, and other stakeholders
