Job Summary:

This position oversees Henry Street's Senior Companions Program and serves as liaison and advisor for social workers across the agency.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree, training, and/or experience working with those over 55 years of age and volunteers is essential.
• Experience managing federal grants is preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
• Experience in reviewing and evaluating data to direct programming
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience creating volunteer programming and community organizations
• Computer literate, knowledge of MS office such as Excel, Word, and Outlook

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative oversight for the Senior Companion Program (SCP) and ensure compliance with all funder and AmeriCorps Seniors requirements.
• Analyze program utilization through data and statistics; develop and implement strategies to address any areas of underutilization.
• Ensure that National Service Criminal History Checks (NSCHC) are completed for all covered staff and volunteers in accordance with AmeriCorps Seniors regulations.
• Recruit, screen, orient, and place volunteers in suitable volunteer stations.
• Collaborate with AmeriCorps Seniors SCP staff to establish and maintain strong working relationships with volunteer stations; develop and update volunteer assignment plans.
• Keep members of the AmeriCorps Seniors Advisory Council informed and engage them for input on key program decisions and operations.
• Coordinate formal and ongoing recognition for volunteers, partner organizations, and supporters of the SCP.
• Conduct volunteer performance appraisals in collaboration with SCP staff.
• Evaluate the appropriateness and performance of volunteer stations.
• Attend trainings and conferences as required or authorized by AmeriCorps Seniors.
• Collaborate with internal departments at Henry Street Settlementincluding Development, Volunteer Services, Facilities, HR, and Fiscalto support effective program operations.
• Prepare accurate and timely internal and external reports for both government and private funders.
• Ensure that all required reports are submitted completely and on time.
• Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and partner agencies to expand the program's reach and impact.
• Promote collaboration between SCP and other Henry Street programs to enhance services for clients and volunteers.
• Negotiate, draft, review, and update Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with volunteer stations, clearly outlining expectations and placement guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Physical Job Functions:

• Able to use public transportation to travel within the five boroughs
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Able to walk up several flights of stairs throughout the day
