Job Summary: The Director of Security oversees the security operations of the hotel, ensuring the safety and protection of associates, guests, and hotel assets. This role involves supervising security staff, implementing preventative measures, and collaborating with the General Manager to develop effective security protocols. Essential Functions and Duties: Train and supervise security staff to effectively monitor and protect hotel assets. Collaborate with the General Manager to improve preventative and responsive security measures. Assist in the development and implementation of emergency procedures. Train staff on proper patrol procedures and ensure compliance with security protocols. Maintain accurate documentation of property patrols and security incidents. Oversee shipping and receiving procedures to ensure secure handling of deliveries. Monitor and report violations of cash handling procedures to the General Manager and management. Train staff on investigative procedures for asset loss and ensure compliance with hotel policies. Control access to public areas, storage rooms, and associate areas, identifying and addressing security challenges. Administer first aid as needed and ensure all security staff are certified in first aid and CPR. Patrol public areas to detect fires, unsafe conditions, and malfunctioning safety equipment. Maintain positive relationships with local, state, and federal security and life safety agencies. Required Experience, Education, and Skills: Previous experience in security management or a related field. Strong leadership skills to train, supervise, and motivate security staff. Knowledge of hospitality law and security protocols. CPR and first aid certification required. Strong communication skills to interact with guests, staff, and external agencies. Ability to analyze and implement security procedures and policies. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and investigative skills. Work Environment: Requires frequent walking, standing, and patrolling both inside and outside the hotel. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs regularly. Flexible schedule, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays. Work occurs in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
