Position overview:

This is a mission critical position at Covey Security as we position ourselves above our competition in terms of standards and training. We are looking for an experienced trainer in the safety and security space to oversee and develop our internal and external armed and unarmed training as well as work to maintain quality control in our managed sites. Qualified applicants will have real-world experience in training armed and unarmed personnel as well as operational experience in the safety and security industry. We emphasize de-escalation as a first act and are looking for like-minded people that know that your mouth is your most effective weapon.

This position works closely with our Executive Director of Operations and will report to our CEO.

Additional duties:

  • Develop and implement training for our armed and unarmed officers, including AZ DPS required training and additional safety and security training.
  • Ensure company policies and requirements are consistently applied and enforced at each site.
  • Create, update, and provide detailed and comprehensive written security procedures (post orders).
  • Conduct in-depth security assessments for clients.
  • Work with the Senior Operations manager and Site Supervisors on compliance.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • This position shall have on-call responsibilities and may require post duties as needed.
  • Consistent availability to clients and their security needs as warranted.
  • Create and execute curriculum for our entire workforce.

Experience

  • Prior experience in law enforcement and/or armed forces with experience training large groups.
  • Ability to train in multiple disciplines including de-escalation, workplace violence and firearms training.
  • Have or could attain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Armed Security Training Card.
  • Have or could attain a Training Certificate in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (We will sponsor if not).
  • Training certificates in CPR/AED, Batton, Pepper Spray and other security related training.
  • Experience teaching firearms and has experience with local ranges for conducting classes.
  • The qualified candidate will have had at least 3 years of supervisory work in the security field with at least 10 direct reports and training background conducting security related curriculum.
  • Applicants must be able to have a valid AZ DPS guard license and a clean driving record.
  • Military/Veteran and Law Enforcement Experience is a plus for any position at Covey Security and is heavily favored for this position.
