Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Sales to lead and manage a strategic set of Grocery retail accounts in the US within the Snacks manufacturing sector (Sysco, Kroger, Albertsons). The ideal candidate will have a robust background in sales, particularly within the grocery sector, and experience working with brokers to optimize grocery accounts. This role is crucial for driving sales growth, developing strategic partnerships, and ensuring our snacks are the preferred choice for our shoppers.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy Development
Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies specifically for the Grocery accounts under their responsibility.
Drive growth and market share their accounts by leveraging broker relationships and optimizing sales performance.
Relationship Management
Build and sustain strong relationships with key decision-makers at their strategic set of customers.
Collaborate with brokers to enhance our product placement and promotional activities within the stores under their responsibility.
Strategic Dialogue
Engage in high-level discussions with Key Customer executives and internal senior leaders to explore new business opportunities.
Ensure alignment of their customers’ needs with our product offerings and strategic goals.
Broker Management
Oversee and manage relationships with brokers that service their key customer accounts.
Ensure brokers are well-equipped and motivated to achieve sales targets and foster brand growth.
Negotiation
Lead complex negotiations with their buyers to secure favorable terms and long-term partnerships.
Work closely with brokers to ensure all deals align with our business objectives and foster sustainable growth.
Market Analysis
Conduct detailed market and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities within their customer market and competitive landscape
Utilize insights to influence product development and marketing strategies tailored to shoppers.
Internal Coordination
Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, product development, and supply chain, to ensure timely delivery of high-quality, innovative products to their customers.
Ensure internal alignment with their Grocery key customer accounts’ strategic direction and requirements.
Reporting
Provide regular sales updates, business performance reports, and strategic insights to the leadership team.
Offer recommendations to adjust strategies and achieve business goals based on market feedback and sales data.
Requirements: Industry Experience
Over 10 years of sales experience in the food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods industry.
Proven track record managing key grocery accounts with full P&L responsibility.
Broker Experience
Extensive experience working with brokers to manage and grow grocery accounts.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage brokers to achieve and exceed sales targets.
Commercial Strategy
Strong commercial acumen with a history of developing and executing successful sales strategies within the snacks category.
Contract Negotiation
Skilled in negotiating contracts with large retailers, with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes that drive growth and profitability.
Business Acumen
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Analytical Skills
Strong analytical capabilities to translate market data into actionable strategies.
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field. MBA is highly preferred.
