Job Title: Director of Sales and Applications
Location: Flexible (Preferred: Mid-Atlantic Region)
Job Type: Full-Time
Travel: 25–40% (as needed for customer meetings, team collaboration, and industry events)

Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales and Applications to lead our sales strategy, manage customer relationships, and drive growth across all service lines. This role will serve as a key liaison between clients, field operations, and engineering — ensuring technical accuracy, customer satisfaction, and strategic expansion.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical testing or engineering services, proven sales leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex technical offerings into solutions that meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
Develop and execute a national sales strategy aligned with company growth goals
Lead and mentor a team of sales representatives and application engineers
Set KPIs and track performance metrics to ensure consistent growth and pipeline health
Oversee proposal development, pricing strategies, and customer presentations
Collaborate with executive leadership on forecasting, business planning, and market expansion
Customer Engagement
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, contractors, and OEM partners
Act as a technical resource for customers, helping align solutions with real-world power system needs
Oversee pre-sale and post-sale support including technical applications and solution development
Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to represent Potomac Testing
Technical and Applications Oversight
Manage a team of application engineers responsible for technical evaluations and solution support
Ensure proposals and scopes of work align with field capabilities and project requirements
Work closely with operations and engineering to ensure smooth handoff of sold projects
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical testing standards (e.g., NETA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, etc.) and industry trends
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or related field (technical background highly preferred)
7+ years of experience in sales, business development, or applications within the electrical testing or power systems industry
Proven experience leading sales teams and driving consistent revenue growth
Strong understanding of switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and NETA testing services
Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and support the sales team
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with NETA-accredited companies or service firms
PE license, NETA certification, or PMP certification a plus
Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and proposal generation tools
Experience developing partnerships with EPC firms, utilities, and large industrial clients
