Responsible for leading and coordinating safety programs and initiatives aimed at preventing accidents and incidents. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with federal, industrial, and captive insurance requirements. The ideal candidate is a experienced transportation professional that is eager to lead a team that has a significant impact in the success of our company.
Responsibilities
Maintain DOT register and DOT accident files.
Ensure DOT compliance of drivers, equipment, and facilities, including training of personnel, electronic driver log compliance, accident management, and audits by DOT, OSHA, and EPA
Take lead and work with third party claims and risk management companyfor all accidents and incidents
Work with third party claims and risk management company to manage workman's compensation cases
Actively participate in Captive Insurance safety and risk management seminar and conferences
On a quarterly basis travel to terminal and job locations to audit and improve safety
Maintain equipment files (titles, registration, ect.)
Maintain and monitor data produced from onboard camera system
Handle plates and renewals for all trucks and trailers
Renew all IFTA
Support operations with creating and renewing any unique permits
Review driver violations and process payment if company responsible
Onboard and maintain company files for Owner Operators
Maintain driver files
Review all new driver to assure they are eligible for hire
Lead the safety team members
Qualifications
5 Years of total transportation experience
4+ years of Class 8 transportation safety management experience.
Experience in risk management, insurance, claims investigation & adjustments, and subrogation.
Knowledge of CSA, FMCSA, DOT, HOS, ELD (GeoTab), EPA & OSHA compliance
Experience in driver coaching & training and implementing positive corrective action.
Understanding of medical qualification, licensing & ongoing certification requirements
Ability to conduct safety inspections of terminals, shops, and vehicles.
Knowledge of accident-avoidance technology and its application for driver safety.
Presentation/public speaking experience.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
Bonus Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation (preferred but not required).
